TV Show Vigil

Post by SpilsbyPete » Fri Sep 03, 2021 12:01 pm

Anyone been watching Vigil from the makers of "Line of Duty"

I see they dropped the "HMS" from the title and as Aviation Geeks ,we could pick holes
in the Yellow Royal Navy SeaKing and the decals on it.
Plus the Royal Navy Decals on the Land Rover.

Still looking Good.

I’ve quite liked it so far, some of the cgi was a bit laughable when trying to made where ever they filmed look like a RN base, the lorries just look wrong

Same with the BBC series "Privates" drama television series set in 1960 which follows the stories of eight privates who are part of the last intake of National Service. The "Gloss" green Vehicles you could get away with but the MAN Logistics support Vehicle(entered service 2008) you could not!

Good series really enjoying it, a bit of an issue for me with the Yellow Navy Sea King but hey when you watch something like this you've got to suspend reality.

There was an excellent in my opinion, series starting on Tele last night, a real life documentary onboard a real submarine in the north Atlantic tasked with defending the Trident system. The first episode didn't go too well due to an engine fire so they were going back alongside

The crew hot pit the bunks - 6 hours kip

The captain has already been replaced - reason not given

Too much like an underwater version of Murder on the Orient Express to me....they all dunnit!

However back in real world , looks like there is another Trident Missile test about to take place in a couple of days time.

Spoiler alert: remember that unauthorized barbecue involving a sub's crew at the height of the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020...?

As Endeavour's a spin-off or more like a prequal of Morse then why not.
Think 'Thursday' would easily be another throw-back show(Life on Mars etc) when villains got their heads 'cracked-in' by a truncheon.
Rather than messed about by rehabilitation that seems to happen these days...oh and proper sentences too but that's a different subject.

Hasn't that already been done by Martin Shaw in Inspector George Gently? (but not in a submarine)

Is it normal in a Submarine for the captain to have loads of drinks bottles unrestrained on a table or the coxain dishing out drinks while on duty..

Recorded it and watched it over 2 nights.Loads of questionable bits but I thought it wasnt a bad watch as it made a change from the usual drivel and repeats that are normally on.
