Filled up with diesel last Friday at Tesco Harford Bridges (Norwich) at £128.9/litre

Local garage in Long Stratton is £138.9/litre

£1.26 for both diesel and petrol at Tesco’s up here in Inverness. Went for a drive out to Skye on Saturday and there’s a small inn/hotel/shop/fuel stop at a place called Clunie on the A87, they were changing £1.68.

1.30 for unleaded at Tescos here in Aberdare, South Wales.

Good lord Paddy.Thats expensive.

Went past a Shell in S. London today and diesel was £1.42, Unleaded £1.39

£1:33 today for unleaded at Tesco Stratford upon Avon, just back from The Outer Hebrides, about £1:40 over there, on the M6 on the trip up £1:50 litre..

Standard response... oil prices have shot up and petrol prices do the same in comparison. Of course the opposite never happens as they profiteer like mad when the oil price falls and keep the prices at the pump high.

Price of barrel of oil about 75$. Fuel prices North East Scotland generally 134.99 unleaded with diesel 135.99.

Call me a cynic but the price has been steadily creeping up as we get released from lockdown.

£1.27 a Litre for Derv at Asda when I put some in about 10 days ago.

Looks like they want to make money before electric or hydrogen engines take over.

With more and more vehicles returning to the roads as lockdowns relax, retailers know they can put their prices up. People need fuel and will just pay, albeit with a grumble. At one point last year it dropped to under £1/litre. Many of us have saved a lot on fuel expenditure over the last 18 months and it is a bit of a surprise to see prices as they are now.

Tax revenue from fuel duty is currently £35bn/year, that'll be quite a hole to fill when oil based fuels finally end. I can't see the current targets being met anyway, the infrastructure for charging just isn't there, I don't know about the capacity for generating the extra power required. I imagine it'll be difficult to meet the deamnd, neither renewable or nuclear sources could be built in time?

They'll be taxing electric cars shortly anyway.
See the pollution from brake dust and worn tyres on electric cars is just the same as petrol/diesel ones so they should be taxed accordingly.

Also electric cars, does anyone who charge one, do it off grid?
EG have your own wind turbine of enough solar panels to do so?
What happens to all the recycling of car batteries then?

More polluting factories will need to be built, probably on green or brownfield sites.

Plus you might save a few kids lives by not mining the lithium that'll go in the battery and how long before that needs replacing.

Have a nice think about that before moaning about my 10 year old glovebox that only does 15 mile a week.

The only real answer is reduced demand. Even producing the fuel for hydrogen vehicles takes loads of electricity, all the methods of moving people have an environmental impact somewhere, it's just relocating it. The biggest lithium deposits in Europe are in Portugal, the region where the mine would be has voted to not allow it on safety grounds.
I've had a look at a few topics around this, one theory is that ICE cars will be around long after 2030 (because the charging for electric cars won't be ready), petrol stations will disappear as they become less viable and the oil companies will deliver tanks to the consumer for them to use at home, that'll be interesting if it happens. Buses and big lorries will be hydrogen powered with the hydrogen facilities at depots owned by the transport and haulage companies. All speculation for the moment, but owning your own vehicle might well become a luxury, not a right.

£1.29 per litre today in Inverness today(up 3p from Saturday past), Aviemore was £1.39 per litre today.

£ 1.40 petrol & £1.44 diesel in Newmarket when I drove past today.
