The price of a pint
Just popped down the local to discover the price of ale has increased again to £4.20 a pint.
Before the second lockdown the price was £3.70 , after the lockdown it had increased to £4.00 and now mid June it is £4.20.
Is that profiteering or a justified increase based on changed circumstances?
Considering pubs have had help with deferred taxes and furlough schemes I am not happy that the poor down trodden drinker is once again called upon to help the country in its hour of need but we will be there when called upon
Edit : I hoped this post would be cathartic but it isn't , I am still steaming well in to my second pint!

Four large cans of Stella is still £6.00 thank God!! A decent pint in Liverpool has never been cheap though in all fairness..

Re: The price of a pint
I suggest you have a word with the landlord about how much help they actually had and then a serious word with yourself. All the bills still had to be paid, where was that money coming from then? Wasted stock as the dates all started to expire, them having to pay out to restock, with no income? Yeah they had it sooo easy didn't they!Considering pubs have had help with deferred taxes and furlough schemes I am not happy that the poor down trodden drinker is once again called upon to help the country in its hour of need but we will be there when called upon
Cheers

Re: The price of a pint
I agree
I paid £9.90 for a large glass of Rioja in Cornwall
But apparently they have costs to claw back from us according to some so it's all ok! Not.

Not a football fan, never watch it. I'm a Rugby man, and always have a few bottles in the house , to steady my nerves during those games!

Re: The price of a pint
As a non drinker they can raise the prices as much as they like. Hopefully that will create some return for HM Treasury

Re: The price of a pint
Fine
But I go with my partner just for a chill out and a drink , we are not millionaires and it is costing a couple of quid more than it was a few months ago.
All that happens is we will go less often
Wales took the lead with a nice goal

Re: The price of a pint
An awful lot of beer had to be du led into the drains which cost the smaller breweries in particular.
However my 6 weekly hair cut, 10 minutes with clippers max, has gone up from £8 to £12.50.

Re: The price of a pint
Even wetherspoons seem to be £2.19 for a good ale rather than £1.99 that it was

With PLMC. Becks 'Blue' is fine for me.. Lovely Garden Pub lunch today with some great friends that we haven't seen for 18 months. Don't actually know what the drink cost. It was what it was!.

It's not for me to cast aspersions on another man's tipple but give me a bottle of Proper Job or Old Peculiar any day.
But I agree with the main point that supermarket ale is great value when compared to the local boozer.
