England Euro 2020 championship

Post by Skywatcher » Thu Jun 10, 2021 4:50 pm

Good evening all
Just thought I’d start the football thread for the upcoming championships ,good luck to all the home nations ,hopefully we won’t be out by the quarter finals as we so often are ,Jack Grealish looks promising ,as do the whole team ,hope Kane can get a load of goals as with Marcus Rashford,if he is up to full fitness should be a good front pairing :thumb:
However after seeing Germany thrash Latvia 7-1 in their last pre tornemant ‘friendly ‘ the other day (not just the same goal scorers ethier ) we are all doomed and Germany probably going to win they are too efficient ,also France and Belgium will be hard to beat to
Anyway having said all that ,come on England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
Whatever happens let’s have a ball ⚽️ 🍻 it what the country needs at the moment

Let’s hope the idiot that manages England doesn’t continue to play both 5 defenders and two defensive midfielders and actually plays some more of the talented attacking midfielders and forwards we currently have.

Kick of soon two days
So if anyone has team selection predictions please add here
For me I’d go with this team v Croatia 🇭🇷 If I where the manager
Henderson (GK)
Defenders
Stones
Reece James
Shaw
Chilwell
Midfielders
Phil Foden-or James Maddison
Jack Grealish
Mount
Sancho
Forwards
Kane
Rashford
Pointed out I selected one too many ops ,cheers for the good point ,but that’s my team reckon it might stand a good chance this time and I hope iv not spoken too soon ...

I would have Jordan Pickford in goal

If I were a time team manager then it would be Peter Shilton

Good call Mike ,he was my second option he’s done well of late ,but I can’t resist being a life long Man U fan
Shilton a bit before my time but what a keeper he was :thumb:

I would pick a starting team of 11 and not 12 as listed.

Shilton was not a patch on Gordon Banks; ask Pele denied by one of the greatest saves ever.

Not so long ago "gli Azzuri" were the team to beat.

I wouldn't be having probably the best attacking midfield player in the country in defence Foden, needs to be backing up the forwards,
Phil

Pathetic performance by England. Shocking how many times they passed sidewards or back to the defenders.

It was a bright start

After Stones hit the post in the first few minutes I thought here we go , here we go , here we go. Here we go. Here weeeee go!

But we didn't go anywhere fast

Can't understand why Scotland were so jubilant about a nil-nil draw?

A bright start? Think that was the floodlights 👹 There should have been only one winner and they were not wearing white. Still the world number one team are quietly progressing

If you mean Belgium, they overly rely on Chelsea reject Dr Bruyne

You can get 50/1 for Wales to reach the final

Why has the thread title got 'England' in it, are we just supposed to be discussing the England team here, or can we discuss other teams? :S

Fair comment, gmc007 :thumb:
