Like or loathe Horner, it is clear that his complaint to the stewards was fully justified and Mercedes were up to no good. Rules are there for a reason, break them and you pay the penalty.
You might want to do some research first. The DRS flap failed the test due to a breakage/incorrectly assembled actuator, which the stewards have to penalise for, even though chances are it would have failed during one of the races anyway. Similar situation with Vettel post Hungary. And it was newey that went to the stewards, not horny horner. As you say Mercedes were up to no good this time around, I assume you agree red bull were up to no good around Spain/Azerbaijan then?
You might want to read what has been written before diving off the high board. My comment regarding broken rules belongs to every single event around all races; Horner as team principle would no doubt have the final say as to whether to appeal to the stewards, who he decides to send is entirely a matter for him.

I suspect is someone looks hard enough they would find all teams are up to some form of no good, some just don't get caught.

I've just read it again as per your recommendation, and I can still see that you have incorrectly accused Mercedes of wrong doing. The stewards were indeed forwarded to the rear wing by red bull, and were subsequently cleared of wrong doing by said stewards. However post scrutineers it was found that the DRS flap was opening by a fraction of a millimetre above what is allowed, due to a breakage, thus the stewards felt they had no choice but to disqualify Hamilton as per the rules. I fail too see what other 'no good' Mercedes could have been up too?

As Perez said ' Lewis was on another planet'

Superb drive in a superb car.

If was to have a bet I would fancy Hamilton to win his eighth title this season although Bet365 are quoting joint favourites at 10/11 so not a lot of value to be had

That new engine seems has made a huge difference to the Merc performance.

Next few tracks would seem to favour Mercs high speed performance - could be very close, I reckon the WDC will go to Abu Dhabi

Revueing the incident again I realised that I may have exaggerated a little 🙂, thus the reason that I deleted that post. But I still feel that he should have had a penalty of some sort, even if it was just giving the position back as LH who was ahead going into the breaking zone.
Also, it's strange that there is no on board footage available from Max's car of this incident. Did he open the steering? Who knows.

I don't mind Max winning so long as he does it fairly and within the rules. Unfortunately his team principal(s) think otherwise.

Footage is out now, he didn't open the steering per se but certainly didn't put a lot of steering lock in to begin with. I don't think he really planned on making that corner

Mercedes have now asked for a review of the decision not to penalise Max with the emergence of evidence that was not available at the time.

Having now seen the onboard, my conclusion is that he deliberately turned in too late, and too little. If that would have been Monaco they'd both be in the wall, so yea, penalty from me.

TBF, red bull management obviously see him as the best thing since sliced bread, as has been demonstrated by their treatment of the other drivers, especially Ricciardo. But at the same time, horny horner has been a cry baby since his driving days, but mad marko... How anyone thought putting him in charge of anything is as insane as the cattle waste he comes up with whenever he opens his mouth.

I have a sneaky suspicion that Perez will more than close the gap to Max - it could be fireworks at Redbull this season.
You were half right ;)

Whaaat?

vMax is streets ahead of Perez. I must admit I thought Perez would give vMax a run for his money and be much closer. Maybe next season.

Hamilton for the title hopefully.
( Did I mention I met Lewis as a young man when I worked for McLaren at Woking - I usually do!)

Look at his Qualifying performances, he's much closer than any of his other team mates(post Ricciardo) have been. Not so much in races maybe, but again Perez has had covid too, so we can't be sure if he's not been affected long term by that.

And yes, another one for Lewis would go down well. Spesh as it could end up being Mazepin vs Latifi for the title next year!

Nice to remember the old days and people, Slogen. In my youth, [about 18 or so, ] I spent a lot of time in Silverstone Paddock, particularly during practice. I helped push a Lotus Cortina some distance for it's next session, on a very hot day and spent 20 minutes chatting to it's driver, a young Jackie Stewart. Had quite a natter with Bruce Mclaren also. Drivers were very approachable in those days.

Guanyo Zhou to partner partner Valtteri Bottas in the Alfa Romeo team next season. The first Chinese driver to be in F.1. He has shone in GP2 this year.

FIA verdict on Mercedes appeal on Verstappen's behaviour to be announced later today. IMHO he considers himself arrogant enough to believe that rules don't apply to him.

If the FIA don't give Max some sort of penalty it will give him the green light to carry on treating F1 like your local Banger race.
While the FIA are about it they could also try to reintroduce a few more gravel traps. That would help prevent drivers using the overrun areas as an extension of the track.

No penalty, so all drivers are free to crowd each other off the track from now on :thumb:
