Red Bull have requested a review, and are going to present 'new evidence????' to the Stewards at 3pm BST on Thursday in Hungary, seeking a change in Lewis's penalty. Mercedes will also be in attendance. Red Bull will, presumably, ask that all fast corners in F.1 be barred from having an overtaking attempt on the inside. Of course, when Max gets involved and is at fault, then it is 'just hard racing', but when other drivers are possibly at fault, it's 'dangerous driving'. Think I might just watch fishing......

For now, I'm sure it'll flare up again come the press briefings on Thursday.

I'd disagree regarding Toto Wolf. He'd definitely be the far more mature of the two. And I'd say more prone to a violent solution than a legal one(think tables and lawyers  )

Now that would be worth watching :Wow:

I thought Red Bull Racing were a welcome breath of fresh air when they entered F1

It was Hamiltons mistake, he has to take responsibility for it, David Coulthard's words. Lewis received a penalty and went on to win the race and narrow to gap to max - job done.

Job was done two weeks ago. Yet still they are crying about it. We've gota butthurt driver claiming Hamiltons post race conduct was unsporting, from a team trying to take legal action to increase an irrelevant penalty. IMV red bull should be banned from the sport :pop:

So far as I can tell if you watched Sky then it was Max's fault, if you're a casual and watched C4 then it was Lewis in the wrong.

Interesting. From an avid [i.e. non-casual view] from those of us who, [not trying to be arrogant here] have much experience, like 60 years of watching F.1 here and abroad, the consensus generally amongst us is that it was totally avoidable by Max,and according to the F.I.A. rules, the corner was Lewis's. The same opinion exists on another well known site where F.1 has a world-wide following, including people with race experience. [Pprune]. Changing the penalty?? Dream on RB.!

😷

Each to their own opinion in this incident :D If either of them do not feel or act as if they can win without disabling their opponents, then why call it a race?

Just poking the beehive ;)

Beehive duly poked. :) Contact between winners is, thankfully, rare, so yes, it's generally a race.

I can't believe that this argument is still rumbling on and on, to me it was a racing incident and no-one should have got a penalty.
I'm certainly not a Hamilton fan but just love seeing a proper 'race' instead of the usual dullness that F1 has become.

But it wasn't a race between the two top drivers as Lewis knocked Verstapphen off. Lewis had no chance of making the apex of the corner , carried too much speed in to the corner and drove into the Red Bull - it is not dodgems.

Ah! But do drivers have to make the apex? Admittedly you want to take the shortest line through the corner but as long as they stay within track limits they can take whatever line they like. Trouble is sometimes other cars get in the way🙂

It is not supposed to be a race between the two "top" drivers, it is meant to be a race with 20 drivers. I am afraid F1 has become boring, and Hungary this weekend where overtaking is nigh on an impossibility, yawn.

https://streamable.com/rn8rz5 - this is a great clip and shows what we knew, that was Hamilton could have taken the apex tighter (see Leclerc later in race). Appreciate it isn't a great quality clip though you get the idea - should have backed out and left it. More and more you watch replays the more it looks like Hamilton at fault. Max has put it behind him so let's hope the remainder of the season is a cracker like it has been.

You like the sport? Great. Crack on and enjoy and have chats/debates on here.

Don't like it (PLMC) then why comment or bother. :)

Drivers miss the apex all the time when overtaking, it's a common move, get up the inside and force your opponent to take a wider line, often followed by an switch back to the inside when the overtaking car runs wide.

Ah, nostalgia!. Zandvoort, many years ago. James Hunt and Mario Andretti fighting for the lead. Mario tries an overtake on the outside out of a corner, collides with Hunt who spins off. Post race discussion went as follows. From James.' We don't overtake on the outside in G.P. racing.' Mario replied 'What am I supposed to do then??? Just pick my nose and follow the King??, I overtake anywhere I can''......Now THAT was racing!. Could be an interesting afternoon with the pathetic appeal!.

Where is the skill in overtaking on the inside of a corner ( specifically that corner) and having an accident - we can all do that !

' Vallteri, team orders, do not slow down at Copse, just overspeed in to Max please.'

If it was such a good move why did Hamilton damage his wing?

I get it is a professional sporting incident, they are racing for wages not love but then he shouldn't try and mug us all off by saying max didn't give him room.

PS I have a huge respect for what Hamilton with the help of his family has achieved. A lad from an ordinary background. But I bet during his karting career there have been hundreds of moves that have left little boys crying to their dads!

Free country is it not, this is a topic about F1 not just for those who think it is the best thing since sliced bread. If you don't like criticism post somewhere else. Too many so called F1 experts!
