Phone Scams

Post by george » Fri Nov 06, 2020 2:17 pm

Hi.

Had a number of Phone calls over the last two weeks informing me that my Phone
and internet line is going to be disconnected. Press one for info or two to continue.
No Chance. I'm just wondering how much pressing one would cost. Anyone fell for it?

Another scam doing the rounds around this area is the HMRC phone ing to say that you have been investigated and will be arrested within the next couple of days if you do not reply to there phone calls.

Had a phone message from Amazon saying they owe me £76. They don't. Did 141 got a phone number, Googled it and it came up as a scam number.

Had a pop-up on my Amazon homepage, the page has been hacked - Amazon will contact you via email if there is an issue with payment methods etc. The proof is if you, whilst already logged in, press the link on the pop up that says there is a problem with your payment methods. It will ask you to sign in again, yet you already are signed in?!? It’s phishing, if you sign in again, you will loose control of your account, and will find out you have ordered things you never have, delivered to places you’ve never heard of.
