Hi

Probably get shot down in flames here! but with the current on going crisis with covid-19. Beards & long hair should be trimmed in my opinion as these are unhygienic and could spread more infections. Who wants to eat food prepared by long haired bearded person who are unhygienic?

I would not want to eat food served by a clearly unclean/unhygienic person, but their hair length/facial hair is irrelevant. I must say i do sometimes wonder whether you deliberately set out to offend with some of your posts. Let's see what others think - maybe it is just me.

What experience in your life do you base this finding on? Have recently found a 15 day growth gets itchy after day 14, was this because of Covid-19 despite it being cleaned every day?

I take it you just look at someone with the ability to grow a beard and think they dont wash? What about the bald guy who has just pished 10 gallons of sweat into your meal?
Stay Safe,

Why take offence! it's women as well with their long hair hanging all over the place. Nighthawk says hair length/facial hair is irrelevant not so! an article on this topic was written by a columnist in a national paper recently who said long & facial hair length does matter in these crisis and is not hygienic. I will leave it for everyone else to decide!

No, irrelevant providing cleanliness and hygiene are maintained, which may include covering as often seen in manufacturing. But if course if you choose to believe one article from a national newspaper then fine. Obviously it must be correct!

From the Daily Fail, for no other reason as it was the first one I cam across on Googling beards/Covid-19.
Paper and cloth masks, which have become symbolic of the global COVID-19 pandemic since it began in Wuhan, China in December, offer little to no protection against contracting the virus, but Professor McMillan said dense facial hair will eliminate any good they might do.

'They're probably not going to be effective anyway, so it doesn't really matter if you have facial hair or not.

'But they are good for people who have a cough or a cold, to stop them spreading their illness to others.

'If you sneeze into the mask, it stops the virus from spreading, so again it would be better to be clean shaven in order to contain the largest volume of airborne droplets possible.'

The article, after all, having been written by one person is only one person's opinion, and please do remember they make up article's to sell newspapers!!!!! Was this in the Daily Fail by any chance   it doesn't really count as a "national newspaper" - oh sorry that's my opinion

I really don't believe what absolute rubbish you have started here.

Simon and Dave (The Hairy Bikers) have had long hair and beards for years, so are you saying that if they made a nice meal for you then you wouldn't eat it and have a silly tantrum instead about people with long hair and beards?

Just a thought, for said food to arrive via said beardy. Presumably its not been made straight from fresh out of the fields, garden, so it has to have passed through a minimum of 3 different areas. Farmer, factory, wholesaler, chef, maybe more. Anyone in contact with said food could have long hair or beard. The same theory also applies to everything we may or may not buy, clothes, cars, shoes, litteraly everything! So the best way to avoid any form of contamination is to sit comfortably at home, alone, with just a laptop and the internet for company, starting pointless threads on interesting forums just to get a rise out of some other poor soul, also staying comfortably at home and replying to said pointless thread!

What strange times we live in.

To say some are thin skinned insinuates that someone has taken offence, something i have not seen on this thread. I will however control myself and not write what i really want as it will be a personal insult, which is what you really want.

Suffice to say that you formed the opinion about beards based on an article in a newspaper written by someone whos only job is to create said article with very little knowledge of what they are writing about!

Just carried out an assessment of Beard Day 3 and report all is well and maybe just long enough to start storing COVID enriched saliva! A few errant nasal hairs are starting to cause issue though, so out with the pliers

Food hygiene regulations require long hair and beards to be "restrained"

"If your kitchen staff have long hair (any length that can be tied up or could fall in front of their face) or a beard (anything beyond stubble), then they should be wearing a hair/beard net. Stray hairs can fall into food, which is not only unpleasant but can contaminate foods" (Foodstars)

And I had never heard .of a beard snood before

I'm afraid he may have a point.

And here was me expecting this to be a light hearted thread on what your facial hair and head hair looks like due to no barbers / hairdressers being open.

Yep , that’s what it should be Ewart, but sadly it seems some people just like to see the negative in everything. I can say that I am proudly sporting a very long beard and hair, with neither being trimmed since March. As someone who has worked in the City all my career, with the expected matching smart appearance, I am very much enjoying my current Grizzly Adams look.
