Cryptic clue

To pass the time here is a rather amateurish attempt at a cryptic aviation related clue to solve

1) Although various trains had me mixed up, I eventually arrived at this super base.

If you find the answer feel free to add a further clue to solve

Correct spelling is Ramstein

Not aviation-related, but one of the best cryptic crossword clues I have come across was simply: GP (5)
[ie the answer is five letters long]
