Re: COVID-19 UK
From the BBC reporting BJ's words
"He estimated about 30% to 40% of people being treated for Covid in hospital have not been vaccinated at all, as he called on them to get jabbed."
I don't know what the actual ratio of unvaccinated people being treated in hospital for Covid is but I have seen higher percentages than the 30% mentioned by Boris.
It's seems crazy that one would not take a free vaccination that millions of other people have had? I don't understand why you would not get vaccinated. Presumably as a child you would already have received a TB and measles jab so why not have Flu and Covid jabs. At least then you could go to Australia and play tennis if nothing else!

I know a few people who havent or dont want any jabs . Life hasnt stopped them doing what they enjoy. I think they should have them but can't persuade them.ChrisCwmbran wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 6:42 pmStaff here at the local hospital in Cwmbran said 99 out of 107 patients were unvaccinated.

Anyone for tennis?
Re: COVID-19 UK
Umm…so why are schools different to general society. If they don’t work there, why would they work anywhere else. I’m missing something obvious I guess.Nighthawke wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 5:29 pm...in schools, just to clarify the article concerned. Masks are just one part of the overall precautions. If other hygeine procedures lapse then the chances of spreading the virus are greater. Stating the obvious I know but sometimes that is necessary.
Re: COVID-19 UK
BJ could push through legislation whereby everyone without suitable vaccination history turning up for NHS treatment for C-19 is not allowed treatment before agreeing to pay at least a large proportion of the cost incurred.ChrisCwmbran wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 6:42 pmStaff here at the local hospital in Cwmbran said 99 out of 107 patients were unvaccinated.
Payment to be made through PAYE over a twenty year period.
Obviously it will never fly.

Paying for treatment due to lack of preventatIve measures - great idea IMHO. Also include other issues such as substance abuse - smoking, alcohol, drugs, overeating when warned of risks etc etc. Not what the NHS should be for. Flame away - I don't care!

I think the subjects - Should NHS services be free at the point of use / health taxes vary with risk - should be in another thread - although very worthy subjects they will not necessarily be COVID-19 related
Re: COVID-19 UK
I think he's saying 30% of those in hospital with Covid have had no jabs, another 30% have had only one jab (you need two to be considered vaccinated, hence 60% in hospital are unvaccinated) and 90% have not had the booster.slogen51 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 5:35 pmFrom the BBC reporting BJ's words

Had my booster on Tuesday , the next day I could barely move, every muscle in my body ached from my feet to my head. I'm so glad it only lasted 24 hours! Arthritis is bad enough!

Looks like Omicron is proving to be far far less nasty than any of the other strains, a few people I speak to of different ages, health vaccinated or not vaccinated have had the Omicron and say its just like a cold and last about 3-4 days - this must be massivly good news and if this strain wipes out all other varients - its Fantastic news.

Oh well, time for the acid test to see how much protection i have less than a week after my booster with a positive LFT in the household!
Closest yet that its been to the wife and i and time for daily LFTs and work on through it if negative.
Stay Safe,
Geoff.
