If you keep it on your estate you still have to notify DVLA and register it as SORN. But keeping it off public roads means you don't pay any vehicle tax or need an MoT. They use the word "public" road, not "vehicle" road - i.e, take it onto a road also used by the general public, be they on 2 wheels, 4 wheels, feet or, err, hoofs! Lots of things you can do on private land you can't do in public.

If you build a DIY vehicle on your private estate, and it has never been registered, then I don't think the DVLA would know about it - so no need for any sort of tax or even SORN? If I was training a potential F1 driver then I don't think his/her go-kart would be subject to road or vehicle tax - much better to wait until they are earning tens of millions per year and tax that. Even then, best to move to Monaco or other low-tax location!

No - the scourge of the British roads are the idiots who cannot drive with care and consideration. Those people drive and ride all sorts of vehicles. Yet another "broad brush" comment. Please, at least do some research before making such ridiculous statements!

As suggested above, elaborate a bit so that we can at least get a sense of your meaning.

I am guessing that you think that their size makes these vehicle groups dangerous and gas-guzzlers. My little Suzuki Swift is a 1.2 and 4x4.

For me personally the scourge of Norfolk roads is the plethora of enormous tractors.

They seem to grow larger every year however the lanes do not. Additionally they are a common sight on dual carriageways ( dropping mud that is also hazardous)

Especially when they don't pull over to let the queue behind get past! The B1106 from Brandon to Bury (yes Suffolk I know!) is a classic example. The modern ones may be faster but still hold up traffic. I thought the highway code called for them to pull over if possible when there was a number of vehicles waiting to pass?

Those tractors are just as bad up here in Norfolk, with its plethora of tiny roads, which are currently festooned with acres of mud courtesy of the beet lifting season :'(

They are doing a vital job though ;)

They do indeed PB. I can see the Bury St Edmunds beet factory from my office window. My late dad was a tractor driver way back.

According to Clarkson the scourge of the Beemer driver has now been supplanted by the scourge of the Audi A4 driver!

Just sit and think for a moment, - if you believe you have a job of little worth, there's a guy in Germany on the production line, employed to fit indicators into BMWs ...

Now, back to these horses.

We can see the smoke/vapour from the Beet factory chimneys and if we’re unlucky smell it as we approach Bury from the south, not sure if thats worse than the Purina factory smell when the winds in another direction.
Mud on the road is dangerous at least some of the farmers put up home made signs. The very best ones have a sweeper but that is rare.

In all fairness it would appear that nowadays 85% of all drivers of all car makes see indicators as a useless optional extra that just so happens to come with the car, a bit like the stop/start (we’re going to save the planet) button.

In all my time of driving, I have never felt intimidated or at risk from a horse but everyday at some point a car/driver makes up for it.

It's the numpties & plebs who can't be bothered to indicate at roundabouts or junctions, but the first to complain if their involved in an accident!!

Now that's better - that is what I was expecting from Paddy!

Another good game to play when you drive a BMW (as everybody thinks you're an idiot anyway) is to hit the hazard lights at a roundabout - that really confuses everybody as they have no idea which way you will go! - Hours of laughs! :D :D
