Womens Football World Cup

Post by slogen51 » Sat Jun 22, 2019 9:46 pm

Don't want to sound like a patronising male chauvinist pig as I haven't watched much womens Football but I am really impressed with this FIFA world cup. The matches I have seen have all been of a high standard especially USA vs Sweden the other day. In fact they are often more enjoyable than the mens world cup where too many teams play not to lose. The women's matches are much more attacking and free flowing with hardly any cynical tackles and the skill level s right up there with the mens game

Are you watching the England v Cameroon game? - the frustration and ill-discipline are there too.

Saw the highlights - it did rather let the tournament down.

Referee had no control, think she should not officiate any more Matches in this tournament. Cameroon well words fail me. Elbowed Parris, spat on another England player, claiming FIFA were racist & refusing to carry on with match. I've heard of throwing your Toys out of the Pram, and I thought Vettel's Sulk at the Canandian Gand Prix was not professional.

It is a real shame as the other games I watched ( admittedly, only 3 or 4) were very entertaining and played in the right spirit. I have been impressed with the passing and ball striking capabilities , so much so that I had to Google to check that they were playing with a ball of the official FIFA size and weight , same as used by the men.

I was gutted for the Lionesses , a disallowed goal because of a fractional off side measured by VAR but rules is rules and then a missed penalty. Although the penalty decision looked harsh to me. I don't think USA deserved to win but they did and that is football.

Man Utd should have won the premier League if it wasn't for 25 the unlucky goals conceded!

Even with all the un-ladylike grunting that goes with it?

I've never understood why a woman needs to scream when she hits a tennis ball?!

But then when you see how demented these players are whilst playing, I guess all that pent up anger/emotion/testosterone has to come out somewhere!

Make it topless might sell a couple more tickets, linesperson and refs in black stockings, basques and garters, Benny Hill theme tune as the teams arrive on the pitch with Phil Neville chasing them in a policemans uniform waving a truncheon.
