Move On!!!

Post by Vulcan74 » Mon Apr 15, 2019 2:32 pm

Afternoon All

A sensitive subject coming into the public eye again is a certain football tragedy which happened in the UK 30 years ago. I by no means I'm I downcrying it and hope for the families justice is done. But wish the media would stop every anniversary reporting it, and leave the families to get on with it. There is tragedy happening all the time some close to home others not, so by means is this special !!

It's certainly frightening that it's 30 years ago!

Watching Bruce Grobbelaar on North West tonight right now was humbling. He served in the Rhodesian Army, and saying it was worse that fighting in conflict says it all. I saw it on the news.

That and the Bradford City fire were both terrible.

But that's the media. It could be worse

And 34 years since the heysal incident where 39 Italian fans got killed and English clubs were subsequently banned from Europe,

how time flies yet only last year the man. city team bus got attacked going to a certain football stadium,

makes you think, doesn't it??

This tragedy is about the 96 football fan. Fans that went to a game on a Saturday afternoon like many thousands do every Saturday and did not come back. It highlighted the way the police media and politicians viewed football fans. Just remember the way the Sun reported the events and blamed the fans for the deaths. The way the police treated fans like second class citizens and the distrust between them and fans which still exists to a degree to this day. Let's not forget the way they have cover up what happened and is still being investigated to this day with the inquiry currently going on. It also showed how poor football ground where and has since led to us having some of the safest grounds in the world. This disaster was the wake up call football need. Having been to Hillsbourgh and sat in the upper tier of the Leppings End and looked down on the lower tier you do take a second and think that 96 football fan travel to this ground just like I had on that afternoon but did not go home. This tragedy has transformed football in this country to the game we see today.

We should always remember and remind ourselves of the wrongs that result in the deaths of normal people just going to a football match.

Very well said Jaymer15. Liverpool do seem to be classed as the lepers of the UK, when they are in fact some of the nicest, honestest and sincerest people I have ever met since I moved to the area..

Having been to many football games over the last 40 plus years, I can only comment from personal experience - the only place I've been beaten up/attacked at a football match was in, yes, you guessed it, Liverpool!

Admittedly, it was at an Everton match but i really enjoyed the traditional Scouse welcome, as did our fans stood next to the Everton fans that were being spat on and having coins thrown at them all afternoon. :grr:

And they wonder why they're disliked so much! :S

Football brings out the worst in people wherever you are. Just look at the recent headlines regarding racism at the London clubs..

And to put it into perspective, me and dad had 3 young Everton fans escort us back to the station which I'll forever be thankful for after the coward sneaked up beside me and took a 180 degree swing with my mouth at the end of it, he ran off with his mates while I lay on the floor with my dad looking over me wondering what had happened.

Oh how I'd like to meet that little sh*t on his own and without the element of surprise. ;)

I was at the Rangers Celtic match when 66 people died and we didn't know about it until we stopped for beer at Stirling .We had 3 buses that day and got routed all through Glasgow to get out due to emergency services priorities. We thought it was just bother as usual.Between 1415 and 1430 a few of us were at the top of the stairway that collapsed looking for friends and speaking to local supporters without any problems, even trading nips as it was New Year(Even though we were wearing Celtic scarves etc)different during the game! There was no singing on our bus after we heard the news and it wasn't really a surprise to find the other buses had a whip round as well as did the boysin the club later on. THe frightening thing is Celtic scored as we were going down the stairs thinking we had won and some people were going to go try to go back up but didn't as we thought we had won.Rangers equalised with what must have been the last kick.It could have happened at both ends

knocked lap top and sent before saying that day will never be forgotten by those were that were there but I think it it is done in a more dignified manner by those at Ibrox.
