Yes I can confirm it's up and running again, it had some problems apparently, but it's sorted now.

International Space station visible over UK

Post by slogen51 » Tue Jul 24, 2018 9:49 pm

Just seen the ISS over southern England again for the second night running

At 22:29 it appeared very bright from the south west and traveling NE. So from the Norfolk area it appears almost directly above your head even though in reality it is over the English channel.

http://www.isstracker.com

https://spotthestation.nasa.gov/sightin ... 1eb4eXTWpc

It's back in a few hours at 00:58

tomorrow 25/7 it should be visible at 21:38.

It is very easy to see as a very bright light traversing the sky at 17 000 mph at an altitude of 255 miles! What an awe-inspiring sight and amazing to think there are people in it.

Wonder if it has a number!

Thanks for the heads up Mike. I'm in Brandon so will try to remember to look (assuming clear skies of course!) Might even stick the camera on the tripod and try to get a long exposure trail shot. Tried last year with a result but it was kind if trial and error but it was full darkness then.

It is at its brightest as it passes through the overhead towards the north east - you can't miss it.

Agree at 1946L, but did you see the other satellite which crept overhead from the NNE at c. 1948; much brighter than the ISS, but being much lower, disappeared at around 75 degrees elevation heading SSW.

If using PlanePlotter switch to F11 the skyview function and move the view to south, zoom out and youll see that after sunset PP is programmed to track the brightest , visible , satellites for you. So you'll not only see overflying a/c , but also satellites local to your location.
Folk often mistake nav lights for satellites.Using this function you can illiminate a/c from spacecraft :O)

Should be some bright passes this week if the clouds stay away.

I snapped this last week , before the Moon was viz , but you can see Venus , Orion the Pleiades [top right ] and ISS [ range 1500km ] all in one frame.
