Apologies to the post man / woman / transgender / non binary person.

Post by slogen51 » Mon Dec 03, 2018 3:27 pm

I recently became a sexagenarian ( I am 60) and yesterday received my NHS Bowel Cancer screening kit.

Basically this entails sending SIX samples of your 'movement' to Nottingham by post.

The good news is that you do get a prepaid envelope - I just pray that it stays sealed down!

This is clearly a very serious topic that can affect everyone so a big thanks to the Post Office this Christmas.

Tests are every two years, so if you had one last year you won't get one this year.

A subject very close to my heart!!!!. Eight years ago this test failed to discover my bowel cancer [it does state in the bumpfffh that it is not 100% accurate.] It led to stage 4 cancer, starting to get into my lymph nodes, major op, followed by by two follow up ops, and a post-op lung blood clot. Two and a half years with a colostomy bag, happily reversed, and I am in the rudest of health, aged 76, and perfectly normal. [although some on F.C. AND my wife, would possibly disagree!]. Why all the details??? To draw attention to the fact that IF you feel something is amiss in that department GET IT CHECKED OUT!!!!!!. Ignore it at your peril. I left it too long, and it very nearly killed me. Had it not been for the wonderful teams at West Suffolk Hospital, and, yes,the wonderful N.H.S then I would not be here now, perfectly clear. GET CHECKED OUT if at all suspicious. Kind regards, John, Cancer survivor!!!.   . I had always kept myself fit. and the fact that I was fit played a large part in my survival, according to my Surgeon [He is one step down from God as far as I am concerned!!.]

What with all the useless mail-shots and complete drivel we get sent through our letterboxes, must be quite something to send some sh*t the other way!

I share your birthday slogen, albeit some years apart, and received my package in same way.

Result, positive! Norfolk and Norwich university hospital - benign polyps removed..

Ongoing checkups at 2/3/3/3/3 years. N&N will provide your collection and return and excellent service as part of ongoing package.
