Have I missed something here , or have some of these airfields not really closed after all ?

Indeed , must have been a bit of a shock for Halton . I'm also curious as to where they think the runway is at Molesworth , reckon that went more than 30 years ago !

Some wonderful infrastructure in place at Wyton, just ripe for flattening in preparation for new housing...
Halton confuses me, sure it was Bucks - HP22 5PG sticks in my mind (not bad after 40yrs) and all that time marching up and down that hill behind a goat and a pipe band...

Looks like someone at the Beeb has updated the article relocated Halton to Bucks where it belongs.
