I never understand why they spend all this time and money 'to make it more competitive and interesting for the fans', yet still continue to add guaranteed less than exciting tracks to the calender, on multi year contracts! Creaming their pants over new street tracks that clearly don't work, Azerbaijan excluded, then finally getting one that does work, and cry its too fast... Wheres the facepalm smiley when you need it! Oh and then decide to hold the 'pre-season shakedown' behind closed doors!? And bearing in mind you have to pay to watch these races live here.. Yea defo no pleasing some folks!

Not the biggest fan of Sochi either. And more chance of the Russian's attending RIAT than F1 sorting out its own politics
Haven't you heard, the new name is Russian International Air Tattoo (=RIAT)
Wonder if it will include a live firepower demonstration as a special exercise? :ninja: :ninja: :ninja:

Kevin Magnussen to replace Mazyspin, who has also along with his father been sanctioned by the EU.

Proven solid driver, as long as he doesn't fall out with Schumacher of course.. Maybe Gene Haas wanted him back.

On another note, it would appear red bull havent managed to go a session without crying about the Mercedes again!

It certainly is some feat of engineering the "zero sidepod"! Can't say I like its look, but like aviation, they aren't built for looks

Whether it works is another thing...Guess we will see Q3 next weekend.

I'm not sure we'll even see it's true potential then. I'm predicting it will be so far ahead of the rest they'll take P 1 & 2 and still be sandbagging. They'll want the competition they have an edge, that is all. Fingers crossed it doesn't get 'banned'. It wasn't really until the second half of the season that other teams caught up with the double diffuser in 2009 and there must be an awful lot going on under the body to cool that beast down so I'm thinking it's not an easy copy. Hoping Merc have nailed it.

Is he though ? 2014 for McLaren he got 55pts vs Button who got 126pts. Then two 5th places, three 6th places, four 7ths and some others lower down over the years. I think he's average and can get a car to the end. Pay drivers frustrate me which is what I assume is happening. There's plenty of up and comings that wouldn't demand a high salary.

Not alot of point in looking at his championship finishes, as the only time he has been in a decent car (2014 McLaren), it was clearly Buttons team. And he is a driver well known for only being able to perform in a car set up for himself. At this point he certainly looks a safer bet than Hulkenburg, Giovanazzi and Fittipaldi. Probably Piastri too, who most likely was not actually an option due to Alpine contracts.

Most likely the ideal drivers have been washed away by red bulls tears anyway.

Have to say after watching some of today's pre season I really don't like the look of the new cars but I guess it might grow on me like the F-35 eventually did lol

I'd second that. Though the Merc has grown on me slightly, and the McLaren is by far the best looking. Its the front wing that does it for me, just looks wrong compared to what we are used too.

I was the same on the F-35 until I saw them in the flesh!

If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!
