So just 4 more squeaky bum 1-0 wins and England are champions.

According to Lee Dixon if you don't concede a goal you eventually become champions

"It's coming home!"

Only problem is I didn't know football was "invented" in France, Italy or Portugal.

I don't know why they persist with Kane; a front line of Rashford, Sterling and Saka or Foden with Grealish just behind could tear any defence apart.

Not if the opposition does not concede either and they are better at penalties.

In the immortal words of a great warrior, perhaps the England football team can draw strength from it for today's game -

"England expects every man to do his duty".

Watched a couple of exciting matches with lots of goals yesterday , Spain won in extra time and France went out on penalties so I really hope the England game is nothing like that and we win 1-0!

As a non football fan, I do watch the English games, and I enjoyed it. I did, however, feel that booing the German National Anthem whilst it was being played was in very poor taste. By all means, if you must, boo them during play, but to boo their Anthem was disrespectful IMO.... Oh, and another thing. Could the powers that be PLEASE tell pundits and commentators that a lot of English words have a 't' in the middle, and a lot end with a 'g'. I expect it in kids, but not in adults. It sets a bad example to youngsters innit.[Gary Lineker is an exception from this]

I agree with you Raptor9. I am not a football fan, but like you I occasionally watch. I also heard that booing and tbh, I felt a bit ashamed, especially when I believe our fans outnumbered them by approx 40 to 1.I watch other sports, now and then, and never see this tribal mentality.

Regards
Steve.

I thought this thread was about sport not political satire and , IMO, pathetic anti-everyone-else comments.

Back on point, we haven't won yet so maybe hold off handing out knighthoods. When the fat lady sings "Coming home" then it will be time to relax.

I don't have the slightest interest in football but I've often been puzzled by the expression "it's coming home". Just exactly what is "it"?
