Whilst in another grump, enthusiasts banned from parking near RAF families day displays. Rather an elitist approach to recruitment?
You've answered your own gripe - "Families day" it is for the families, not for the enthusiasts. You can't blame them seeing how often bases are bombarded with visitors and it's a day to repay their family members. Been like it for a while.

Otmar's out from Alpine after this weekend. Massive change for mid season.

Wow, that's a change. I'm not surprised, a man who does a lot of talking yet can never get the team to show it.

The Piastri saga didn't help, and glad he is proving them wrong at Mclaren.

My point was along the lines of… school holidays, grandparents taking youngsters etc., a missed opportunity. It doesn’t cost anything to allow parking to watch the show from outside.
Quite a few ex-RAF personnel might also wish to reminisce. Hence my comment.

That's exactly the point they don't want public roads crammed with people.

Proving them wrong?
He was an Alpine academy driver and they wanted him in the car.

Result for Piastri and Gasley. That penalty was a joke.

Guess you've not seen the onboard from Hamilton understeering into him, he had plenty of room to avoid him.

Disappointingly predictable again sadly. I think all the teams were suffering from a lack of set-up time with the poor weather over the week-end. Despite Sergio's second place, he is still under performing tho'. Piastri to replace him?.

Why would a McLaren driver replace him? Piastri has a contact until the end of '24. He's probably safe now for the season unless Danny Ric gets to some super form pretty sharpish. I think he's made a solid return in difficult circumstances but it will be a few races before we see him back to his best. I doubt we'll see Sergio in the car next year although he is contracted through '24, I'm going for a swap with Danny for next year. Longer term the smart money is on Lando who's McLaren contract expires at the end of 25. Current crop of RB academy drivers aren't setting the F2 alight this year, best placed is Iwasa 34 points off the lead in 3rd place, 3 wins though.

As it's silly season we have Lewis, Guanyu, Ricciardo, Tsnoda, Albon, Sargent, Magnussen all out of contract at the end of the year so there's likely to be a few changes I'd have thought. I think Lewis and Albon will stay as they are, the rest is anyone's guess. I haven't mentioned Stroll for obvious reasons :)

As George said, without Max this year would be a really interesting championship. There's loads of great racing and teams moving about in terms of pace.

I think that we have probably seen the best of Ricciardo. Contracts aren't worth the paper thy are printed on these days at times. End of season will, as you say, be interesting!.

Indeed, not sure why you'd think they'd take pastry when it's publically known they've been talking to Lolly Norris.
Maybe they should grow some balls and take boy wonder out of the car for the rest of the year, and put Ricciardo in. Not that is going to make much of a difference anyway, next year's scumbag mobile will still be designed around him, and thus will again destroy Ricciardo's career just as it has Gasly, Albon and soon Perez.
Still, if rumours are to be believed then the front runners may be found to be cheating financially yet again, so a much harsher punishment this time??

Edit, oh and the race was a bit zzzzzzzzzzz wasn't it!

I did put a question mark after Piastri. I think, however, that he is going to turn out to be faster than Lando, so perhaps RB may start talking to him?? Time will tell!.Just speculating.

If Adrian Newey could do everyone a favour and retire, that would be great, stop making such fantastic cars

As we’re on holiday at relatives in South Wales, they have the ‘full package’ and the weather was ‘clarting it down’, I watched the whole GP😴

What a bore😴

I’m an F1 avoider nowadays, and now I know why

MV seems to have all the charisma of a dog turd🤔

Or is that just me😵

Just bring Ross back, for so many years it was Adrian vs Ross. Adrian at Williams vs Ross at Benetton, then Ross at Ferrari vs Adrian at McLaren, finally we got Brawn vs Red Bull. Newey is a legend of the sport. Yeah, probably retire now :)

I have to disagree that these races are boring, nothing could be further from the truth, some of the best racing in years. It's just that a moaning Dutch hypocrite with zero personality keeps winning by a mile. Everything else is great. I love boxing and really enjoy watching the likes of Usyk and Canello, greats of our time even though I technically don't support them, I'm lucky to be around to see them at their peak. Both great personalities. What is it with F1, Schuey, Alonso (when he was winning), Verstappen, all really unpleasant people.

At least Max has some excuse. He is his Father's son. Jos Verstappen was not someone you would want to have an argument with. Police record for violence etc.,
