I believe the meeting happened on the 24th before it all kicked off.

Re: The Ukraine Situation
NATO is mounting continuous 24/7 combat air patrols (CAP) over Romania, Poland etc at the moment, and generally the fighters do not show on tracking sites. RAF Typhoons have been included in this, with 5-6 hour missions out of Coningsby with an accompanying RAF Voyager to keep them topped up. Our Typhoons often show up in transit to/from the area of patrol.

Re: The Ukraine Situation
Maybe I should take my comment back, this time at least. Comment from the BBC. Macron told Putin that he was "committing a serious mistake" and added that the Ukrainian government was not, as Russia claims, a Nazi regime - telling him his point of view did not reflect the reality, the Elysee says.
Re: The Ukraine Situation
I see that Russia is appealing against the football expulsions from FIFA and UEFA competitions.
Re: The Ukraine Situation
As this horror unfolds on our own continent, I’m struggling to understand whether I feel more appalled by what is happening to innocent civilians, or at the West allowing it to continue. Despite unprecedented sanctions and the supply of huge amounts of weapons, civilians are being slaughtered in Europe in ever-increasing numbers.
What is the point in NATO or our vast militaries if a madman can commit genocide here in Europe safe in the knowledge that no-one is going to do anything about it? Ukraine may not be a member of NATO, but is there not a moral imperative to do the right thing here, regardless of whether a country is or is not part of some treaty or agreement? How many atrocities are committed before we say enough is enough? And what kind of signal does it send to Putin and all the others like him if the West, despite our epic military capabilities, is impotent in the face of this appalling evil? Chechnya, Syria, Crimea, Ukraine and then where?….
I am genuinely interested in people’s thoughts on this.

Re: The Ukraine Situation
I suspect NATO, the US, the EU, the west, or whoever, might be more inclined to take direct action if Russia wasn't a nuclear weapons capable country - a point seemingly often lost on those who advocate binning Trident.
Given the risk from a madman who has previously stated there's no point anyone surviving if Russia doesn't survive, I'd imagine most in the west are hoping that someone in Putin's inner circle will take him out, soon.

Re: The Ukraine Situation
Let's be blunt about it, us tax payers pay a fortune for the services of MI6 ! Like wise the American public for the CIA. What is the point of having a dog if it does not bite to protect its owner. I expect they are looking at Putin as we speak ? The problem is we British are awfully nice, and always like to play by the rules ! It's time to throw the rule book away and MI6 to do what they are paid for. I have written to my MP about this but a little more politely ! It's time for those in the green building by the Thames to earn their monies !
"A Rhubarb" is a sortie of opportunity !

Re: The Ukraine Situation
Says not available in my country(UK) , ? not surprising as the west seems to be following the Russian line in censorship(something they say is undemocratic) , with Russian TV networks blocked and social media channels also closed off all in the name of stopping fake or misleading contentjsmith1254 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 04, 2022 9:53 amIf you know Russian. now it may well be that these channels are putting out false content etc, but I think we (western [UK/EU/USA etc] citizens) all capable of making our own mind up as to what is real or not
Here in the UK we are in an era where only the news on BBC/ITN/SKY (mainstream none subscription services)is correct and anything else is reported as being misleading etc

Re: The Ukraine Situation
expect same from SKY, ITN, CNN, NBC etc over next few days, it was same with the RAF Voyager flight last week ,welshandy wrote: ↑Fri Mar 04, 2022 10:21 amBBC on board a NATO AWACS https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/world-europe-60612255
It all part of the NATO Deterrence strategy to ensure Russia understands what it would be up against should it decide to move west (something I think unlikely looking at their current situation in Ukraine)
