Absolutely - When it's so painstakingly obvious what's wrong Steven, and nothing changes, it should be called out. You don't win anything by winning the Semi Finals.

The problem is I think you are happier we lost and therefore Southgate hasn't won the trophy than you would have been if we'd won it!

Anyway, in that game:

Walker, Rice, Foden and Kane were dreadful. The rest were average. Palmer was the only one who showed anything positive - Watkins did nothing after coming on.

Play Trent, Toney, and Palmer for starters like you've said before? Nothing groundbreaking mate, just like what you've said before...

And stop sticking to your guns all the time, every game, when it doesn't work.

Interesting. Different system/formation or same as Southgate's?

I must admit this is the best suggestion so far

Along with having such high hopes, we're not Argentina for crying out loud!!!

Seriously, what did you expect.😅

It does surprise me that Palmer and Watkins make such a clear impact, yet GS never started them.

Let us hope the next manager does

That's sport - if you don't like losing stay in bed

Its is hard losing two finals but I recall the days when England were no where near the finals

Regarding Kyle and Phil Foden - ask Pep Guardiola who knows a thing or two about football (he even knows Saka plays on the right at Arsenal unlike some of the knockers :Wow: )

You always get the "Anyone but England" brigade , it's normal

I don't like football, but watched all the England games, because I consider myself patriotic. I couldn't understand how we ever qualified for the final by playing so badly!!. We were, of course, beaten by the better team. On to the next Grand Prix...... :)

Any squad rotation may have been beneficial. Finishing games in the 90 mins helps also... England played almost an additional game in the tournament, and it showed, lots of tired legs.

Spain had only one game that went to extra time, and basically played a B team in their final group game, along with continuous rotation, allowing for fresher legs.

It still amazes me how Yamal looks so at home in the team at such a young age. That level of comfort is something special at club level, people who you're with week in week out, but at internationals, that is something amazing, and a testament to the Spanish setup.

so Southgate stay, yay or nay?

Currently, on paper, he's one of the most successful international managers in nearly a decade, but with nothing to show for it.

That was painful to watch. Apart from the 10 min period after the goal. England barely got out of 1st gear. Full credit to Spain

Media basically saying we have the best squad but not the best team and Southgate should be getting more out of them which I suppose I reluctantly agree with but we had all this with the so-called "Golden Generation" and barely got past the group stages.

Spain earned it beating Germany France and England

At least we got to the final because at one stage it looked like England would be home in time to vote!

Got it all again in 2026 probably with a new manager - if he feels he doesn't have the support of the country, and judging by media reports and seeing some of the stuff on here he doesn't, then I think he will resign. I can't think of anyone better qualified to do the job who is available - Wenger?
