Why should he have left a car’s width? Wasn’t even alongside :S
Again AFAIA, it's the rules.

Red Bull have lodged a complaint against Russell due to “Erratic braking” under the Safety Car - Which to be fair he did almost come to a complete stop.
And wonder boy was playing his 'let's get right alongside' games again, which was outlawed post-2021.

Beware “Loonie Lando” coming down a slip road near you!

See viewtopic.php?f=90&t=253891#p1668808.

He makes Mad Max look reasonable.
The helicopter coverage of the rest was quite interesting.

Agreed, I thought the front wheel/wing had to be next to the mirror?

Wasn't even close and Oscar held his nerve.

At least we saw Lando being more aggressive for a change. Too often he just jumps out the way, it's cost him a lot of points, especially vs Max. Okay in this instance it was vs his team mate and there really wasn't a gap but Lando's biggest flaw is he doesn't race hard enough.

Aaaaaand in ever more consistent officiating, Norris is given a 5 second penalty for causing a collision.

There’s racing hard vs racing stupidly. Wouldn’t have seen Piastri try that.

Lando dammed if he goes for it, dammed if he doesn't, he just can't win. I remember a 7 (8) time world champion making a similar move on JB..
If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!

JB was the one investigated for that incident-though not punished.

It’s not like it was an all or nothing place to gain…there were other opportunities and places, and laps left on the board. He chose the one that simply wasn’t on. He should’ve waited.

I don't think most drivers need hindsight to see that move was never on

Could someone explain how that would/will be applied? The next race, or to the Canadian one? :S

I believe they can add it to the next race, presumably it would have to be at the first pit stop.

For my tupence, I thought it was great to see Lando going hard at it, even if he did end up owing his error straight away. I hope he feels empowered to try to stay just as aggressive in the future. Hopefully the team feels they can support the added risks that this involves.

That is not the case. It was added to his race time (he was still classified as he completed the majority (i forget the exact required amout) of the race). Any penalties carried over to the next race will be in the form of a grid penalty.

He should have gone for the inside. He had a good enough run to lay a claim into turn 2. As to whether it would have worked out we'll never know...
As for waiting for another opportunity, that's not the case. Pastizzi most likely would have got past Antonelli (probably quite easily had the team concentrated on team work instead of letting them race), whereas Nozzer needed to claw back as much of the points he's already wasted so far as quickly as possible. Now however he needs to start defending 2nd from the bashing Dutchman.
