It's ludicrous they're still allowed to play.

Aussies played well and out played us. Simple as really, They adapted better and bowled us cheaply in the first innings. Baz ball didn’t work Friday.
Our first day was pretty poor with rather unimaginative bowling most of the day.

The stumping today, was in part, down to them working out Bairstow’s tendency of wandering. Never leave the crease unless you are certain! Unsporting, defiantly taking the letter of the law.
Any team with a history like Australia’s means you have to be switched on.

England lost by just 43 runs, that's probably the runs that they failed to get in the first innings thanks to some undisciplined batting from the top order when they were getting into a good position to put some pressure on the opposing team.
Ah well, on to Headingley

Headingley next?

Can't wait !

Would it have made a difference if Bairstow was allowed to continue, probably but we shall never know. Under the new style England the second innings chase was eminently on but the first 10 -15 overs killed us - I was out so don't know what happened to the top order - how was Root out? Hooking? Stokes nearly saved the day.

Earlier in this thread regarding baz ball it was mentioned that as long as we win it doesn't matter how we win [the series] but Australia have demonstrated that it does matter how you play the game.

About to watch the F1 highlights: a good weekend - 65 at Heathrow over two days, 5 CH-47F at Northolt and some biz in Luton PLUS great sports free on the radio or phone in my case.

Within the laws and the spirit of the game? Winning is very important.
Taking comments and putting them in a narrative to suit the events of today isn’t Cricket.

It wasn't as if Bairstow was trying to gain an advantage by backing up while the bowler is running in for example. It was at the end of the over although Stokes accepts that the ball was still live. I don't have an issue with the Australian wicket keeper nor do I with the captain, Cummins he just wants to play hard and win at all costs - the Aussie way.

The Australians are going to have to be very careful backing up.

Stuart Broad was very funny with his mock, can I come out of my crease antics.

Last I heard Wood was injured, not sure why Matty Potts hasn't played.

I thought the only issue was would Wood last for five days

( If only there was away to crowbar Edward Woodward in to the above - ' so I asked Edward Woodward "would Wood last the five days of a test match?" ')

Along with Archer he is easily England's fast bowler plus he his no mug with a bat and can hold up an end.

Headingley offers pace and bounce so England need even a 90% fit Wood backed up by Tongue

If you've got Wood for 5 days I'd see a doctor...

(That was the joke picked up by Knife..."Could we please get Wood")

Again Mike - your preference? Personally I would suggest the other way round
