You must have the rivalry

Some of my best memories watching football was with my Everton mates at Goodison - pre-match we would be in a pub near the ground that the locals called Lulus , think it was actually the Leigh arms - brilliant atmosphere and humour slagging down the Koppites ( Liverpool FC). The toilet in Lulus was Red!! So you get the picture.

Everton became my second team because in those days you could actually get hold of match tickets.

Very often we would go in for the second half!
If there was no rivalry football would be boring.

My assistant when I was working at LHR was the London organiser for the Everton supporters club. He took me up to Goodison for a match and we went into a pub adjacent to ground. Biggest problem was we were in the Everton stand and I could not celebrate Chelsea goals.

Needless to say we won, if I remember rightly winner scored by Kerry Dixon.

Never had a problem with pronouncing players names as if no other team had a foreign player!

My assistant was John, better known as JC. Amongst other things he organized all the travel and caused chaos in the office when at the last minute he was arranging trips to away European games mid week!

So why have you mentioned him? Was he any better playing for a Manchester team you support?

If the oligarch who owns Chelsea is sanctioned today how should it affect the club? (NB: should, not would or could).
In addition, what should happen to the sponsorship of the Champion’ League (Gasprom) or the location of the final, St Petersburg?

Off topic sort of but MUFC team bus Aeroflot A350 Moscow-Manchester-Madrid has been cancelled , may all be related to Ukraine situation, sanctions, may be just a tech issue with the aircraft

good point re Gazprom , Abromovich and variopus other football teams that have a large Russian influence, but as we saw with Covid , football will continue regardless(probably) of what/any/if sanctions are imposed

28 goals in 66 appearances for Man United 5 goals in 27 appearances for Chelsea seems he was better at Man United than Chelsea

Chelsea should be ashamed to have a Russian in charge of their club yes he should be hit with sanctions and then Chelsea would be up the river without a paddle as without Roman behind them they really are nothing, And yes St.Petersburg should be stripped of the Champions League final, how on earth it can go ahead there now is anyone's guess.

I'm very proud to have Roman as our owner, I don't care where he was born or raised. He wanted (and succeeded) in turning the mighty Chelsea into one of the best clubs in the world and for that I thank him!!

Haters will hate :)

And hopefully a certain Manchester team will be ashamed of using Aeroflot to travel to their away European games

Why should Manchester United or Chelsea be ashamed of their respective Russian connections ??

Man United don't have any Russian connections apart from using a Russian aircraft company for flights and Andrei Kanchelskis, Chelsea on the other hand could not have anymore to do with Russia in fact they probably got more to do with Russia than the entire football league put together!!!!

Of course Utd have a connection the Russian State owned airline who have pumped over £100m in sponsorship into their coffers over the last nine years surely they should have ditched the sponsorship weeks ago instead of only making the announcement today

Taking this wider, and (as a Liverpool supporter) resisting the chance to have a go at Utd and assuming we get through this without being fried I do wonder if this will prompt national and international bodies to look more closely at the "sports washing" which is going on.
I think of:
F1 in Russia and the Arab states
FIFA and the World Cup
The Olympics and China and the Russian drug taking.
The FA and the funding behind Newcastle and Man City - and I'm sure there are others and suspect LFC could also be criticised.

Hold on it is only recently that Russia in some eyes has become a pariah state probably since the annexe of the Crimea. They have been a member of the G8 and have UN veto voting rights. Dealing with a government or state owned company is not the same as receiving investment from an Oligarch.

I don't have a problem with chelski as long as we finish above them in the league!
