Might be of interest to some.

The Sun YouTube channel of all things has been running a live feed from Rzeszów–Jasionka Airport for the past four or five hours. The airport is the closest sizable runway to the Polish / Ukrainian border. USAF C-17s offloading kit and vehicles so far, and an Atlas 747 just dropped off a sizeable number fully armed troops. That's another C-17 arriving as I type...

Just seen that myself. Raised a chuckle at a tense time.

Biden has just said to the western world that"Putin has decided to go to war with Ukraine"! Fortunately in today's times with satalite surveillance, Putin will not be able to mount a surprise Blitzkrieg ?
If a battle does begin, do we think there will be a requirement to re activate the two battlefield surveillance biz jets. These were parked up opposite the wave at Waddington last time I visited?

According to BBC news it looks like Putin might use 'false flag' attacks on the separatist areas of Donetsk and Luhansk in eastern Ukraine to launch an attack on the capital Kiev.

Earlier on Friday, in another sign of rising tensions, leaders of the two separatist areas announced an evacuation of residents, saying Ukraine had intensified shelling and was planning an attack. But the Ukraine denied any instances of shelling and said it is not planning any attacks on the separatist areas.

Denis Pushilin, head of the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR), announced the evacuation in a video purported to have been filmed on Friday. However, a BBC analysis of the metadata showed it was recorded two days ago, before the flare-up in hostilities.

The US estimates there are 169,000-190,000 Russian personnel massed in and near Ukraine, a figure that includes Russian-backed fighters in the self-proclaimed republics of Donetsk and Luhansk in eastern Ukraine.

This was the same tactic used by Putin to annexe the Crimea by destabilising the political area with false reports

Any attack on the Ukraine capital could be initiated from within the separatist areas giving Putin the excuse he needs.

America has bought the Sentinel fleet. They are being put back together then flown to the states. Sadly we will not use these again. Crews has moved on to other pkatforms.

Need to be realistic. If you think that would be an easy event, dream on. Stand more chance of Putin ousting BoJo than the other way round.

The question to be asked surly is
will Mr Putin really want to sacrifice hundreds of Russian lives on a war he cant win ,
The coalition forces in Desert Storm used in excess of 250000 troops to take a country that is very much smaller than Ukraine is , and against a poor (to say the least) conscript invading army

I dont think for all UK/USA/EU bluster etc that Russia will invade Ukraine, they are achieving what they want without shots being fired in that the west is spending millions of pound/dollars/euros moving troops here there and everywhere when in the end everybody will agree that Nato will not expand any further east, if only to guarantee supplies of GAS/OIL coming out of Russia into Europe

Noteworthy President Biden has again stated that Russia may Invade in days,(again, want that happening this week ?) yet Secretary Blinken is meeting Minister Lavrov on Thursday next week so this statement from the White House has little or no credence in my view(not that I know anything anyway)

There is a video released by Russian Defense Ministry that includes some great Mig31 Foxbat shots (30 Blue/RF-95453)

Sky have it as part of this page under Russian releases footage of missiles firing during military drills

https://news.sky.com/story/ukraine-late ... eblog-body

on a lighter/sillier note

Mr Putin did not attend the G7 in Cornwall so missed out on all the VIP transports, so now most the leaders have visited Moscow so he now has these airplanes in his log book (he has seen AF1 many times)

and from the film Hunt for Red October (quite a poignant film in these times) Secretary Jeffry Pelt saves to the Russian Ambassador

"Prudence demands that we deploy ships to observe yours" which is exactly what is happening in both Sea and Air currently
