Re: Latest news from Washington - Trump not happy..........
Her track record when a 'legal eagle' up there earned her a reputation for very tough sentencing, which didn't sit well with her Democrat colleagues. The feeling was that she was out to make a name for herself in as short a time as possible, which she did. Certainly, no-one I've talked to who knew her was surprised that her style didn't really sit well with the electorate during the candidates' TV debates; and there is a sense (and this is among people who knew her in Sacramento) that she's already punching well above weight.iainpeden wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 12:08 pmDisaster - for what reasons?mustang5861 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 11:22 am
Trouble is, Biden has recent and very public history of being 'not altogtether there' (last week he referred to Trump as 'George'), which is a bit worrying given that he is now on the verge of becoming the most powerful man in the free world. I certainly hope he doesn't have to chuck it in at some point in his presidency - my friends on the 'inside track' in Sacaremento predict disaster for the Democrats if Kamala Harris gets hold of the keys to the White House.

Some of them are, but the most damning comments have come from females involved in Sacramento politics and those in the media who have had dealings with her. It was described/explained to me (with a wide smile) as 'women's instinct' stuff.Mark wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 12:25 pmFriends on the inside track are probably white, Male and possibly Republican..iainpeden wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 12:08 pmDisaster - for what reasons?mustang5861 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 11:22 am

You might just find that some of us are not as young as you seem to interpret. From personal experience the brain may be willing but the body is not, not helped by bowel cancer last year.raptor9 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 10:41 amJeez. What is it about you youngsters that think 78 year old people like Joe Biden and me are about to pop their clogs!!!. Many of us our still perfectly capable of cognotive thought!!!. I am fit, with all my faculties, even if my wife says I sometimes forget where I have put them!!. There are some pretty capable older people about, and Joe Biden might just be one of them!!!![]()

PLMC135. Horrible. Keep faith,. I was Stage 4 Bowel Cancer 9 years ago, 3 operations, 2 years with a C bag . Completely recovered. If my Surgeon and the N.H.S can save me, then they will do their best for you. All the best. Re-assessed what I loved about life..........Because I was so pleased with results, I may come across sometimes, as a bit brash and arrogant. I don't care. I am still alive...........Having a near death experience [it was VERY close, particularly with a post-op blood clot]] can do wonders for making one realise what is important in life. I no longer complain about anything. Life is too short.......... :)Stay with positive thinking. I hope this helps you to deal with it.

After 3 major operations in a very short period of time, the first went wrong necessitating a second 5 days later, and fortunately only a very short period of time with a stoma (something that made me feel very ill) I was given the news that I did not need any more treatment. The only reminder I have these days is a massive scar across my stomach.raptor9 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 5:38 pmPLMC135. Horrible. Keep faith,. Thanks for your comments, the service I received from the NHS was first class, the attitude of the staff made them feel more like friends than carers. If I had gone home on the day originally intended after the first operation my situation could be very different.
Re: Latest news from Washington - Trump not happy..........
Appropriate that this conversation has linked Trump to stoma bags.

Donald Trump says on Twitter he has fired Defence Secretary Mark Esper!!!!
Re: Latest news from Washington - Trump not happy..........
Surgeons and Nurses, all hospital staff, from floor cleaners to top people are one step down from God in my opinion, and I let their Chief Executive know that. How do you say thankyou to people who save your life twice!!. If you are in serious trouble, the N.H.S is fantastic.
Re: Latest news from Washington - Trump not happy..........
The NHS has saved my life, and stopped me from smoking at the same time. They kept prepping me for an operation on a badly infected foot then cancelling at the last moment. I was kept drowsy for 6 days and when I eventually came round, I found I didn't need a cigarette, No withdrawal symptoms and no cravings. I wouldn't recommend it as a way of stopping but it's certainly effective It's also saving me a fortune these days. I also lost 3 stone in the process. So they have probably saved my life three times.

Biden doesn't hate the UK, but he isn't enamoured with our government, and because he (feels?) he has Irish sensibilities he won't do anything to compromise peace in NI, and a border will give focus to those who want an excuse to start trouble. Also, why would he prioritise sorting trade with the UK when the EU is a market nearly 10 times the size? Above all else the US is about business, but no doubt the special relationship in defence and intelligence will continue. As for his mental faculties, Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe's situation wasn't helped when our Foreign Secretary said she was a journalist which was why the Iranian's put her in prison in the first place saying she was using that as a cover for spying when she and all the people that know her have said she was a teacher.
In this world there's two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig.

The NHS are great, but after losing 3 close family members due to mis-diagnosis by GPs my faith has been lost .
My Grandmother died at 59, was diagnosed with trapped wind, but it was Cancer. My Grandad was diagnosed with fluid on the lung but it was Cancer and diagnosed too late to save him. My Uncle had a bruise/rash on his leg , he was told it was cellulitis but a week later , he was told it was Myeloid Leukaemia. He went to hospital on the Monday and passed away the following week just 2 days after his 57th Birthday.
Not everyone is lucky.
