But the main difference that you are failing to grasp onto is that a letter to Santa goes no further than the parents who buy the toys, who nearly already know what the kids are getting and (Certainly in our case at least) use them for an idea of what the kids want! Not going door to door threatening acts of naughtiness (Tricks) if goodies (Treats) aren't handed over!!
