Russia lost 2 IL-76 that were shot down over Ukraine, at least one downed by a Su-27. Both apparently full of paratroopers. If confirmed to be true, it’s a huge loss of life, and a huge blow to the Russian invading forces.

The usual mixed messages from the EU ( Germany)

A)
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said the Russian president and his top diplomat were "responsible for the deaths of innocent people in Ukraine, and for trampling on the international system".

"We, as Europeans, do not accept that," she said, after a meeting of foreign ministers in Brussels.

But Germany buys energy from Russia :-

B)
But ahead of Friday's meeting, Germany's foreign minister, Annalena Baerbock, said Berlin did not believe excluding Moscow from the Swift was the right thing to do at this moment.

She told reporters: "I can understand - I feel the same way - that in these minutes, in these hours, emotions are running high and that words like 'Swift Agreement' sound very, very strong, but at these moments you have to... keep a cool head."

Swift bank messaging system allows countries to transfer Millions of dollars of transactions - the UK and many others want Russia excluded but Germany vetoed the EU decision

While for the families of those lost at home this is tragic the generals and Putin won't care but frankly they should not be there in the first place. The poor people of Ukraine need our support don't buy Russian, change your investments to exclude Russian holdings!

Russia needs to be punished in every way possible. And support for Ukraine should be massively increased. It’s a fight between democracy/freedom, against a crazy madman

I'm think there's a high chance that old Putin might be ''removed'' from his position either by members of Kremlin or by his extremely rich friends who are a bit foxtrot oscer that he has done what he has done

You’re right, I needed to be more clear. Every way possible, except the nuclear one (of course)

Watched RT for an hour last night and it showed, to my mind, just how much information was not being conveyed to those who routinely watch that channel for "news", plus how much mis-information and dis-information was being thrown out into the ether.

Doubtless both sides participate in such goings on, but, and this is a biased but, at least we in the free worlds can choose to watch / listen too other sources of information.

In my opinion, if the west does not step up and also step into this fight NOW then we will all be facing the same Rubber dog muck storm when this idiot targets another democraticillay free country, only then it'll be much closer to the europe we neighbour. The "BIG STICK" he waived verbally the other day at any country that intervened, be it a nuclear one or a cyber attack one, will be waived again if he is not stopped this time.

My thoughts and my greatest respect is with all those Ukrainians facing the bombs, rockets, missiles and bullets right now in Ukraine. Stay strong, stay as safe as you can and if your holding a gun, may your aim be true.

Its always the same whatever the situation, war, famine, earth quakes etc the news media always get people into these places in large numbers

was interesting to see last nights 10pm news feed
BBC had their journalists hunkering down in the hotel basement
SKY had their journalists still up on the roof

While I can understand having the normal placed journalists in place while send Nick Robinson over last week, makes no sense whatever in terms of risk and cost.
