The focus the last 10 years has been on vocals with (sorry to say) The X Factor and the other one on BBC.Mumford And Sons seem to be the only answer at the moment and don't get me started on Coldplay!!!.
Maybe Ive been spoilt by having bands like The Jam,The Who,Pink Floyd,Dire Straits,Metallic and my fave all time band U2 ringing in my ears.
It also amazes me that one band gets over looked EVER year...Depeche Mode like them or loath them Theyve been on the go for nearly 30 years without the record industry's praise.
I hope something new is coming soon as I'm getting bored and maybe too old for all this hyped up ringtone music!
I agree that Depeche Mode should get some recognition for their achievements, also another band which is still chugging away is Level 42 who released a new album 'Retroglide' a couple of years ago & still they plod on...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkw_81EPfEQ" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I certainly cant stick these fabricated girly pretty boy groups like 'One Erection' with their hairstyles like the men from Kays catalogue! For starters how can they be called a boy band when not one of them is playing a single bl@@dy instrument! Its just one big Karaoke show :grr: .

What really pees me off is that a band like Iron Maiden who have sold over 100 million albums worldwide get no recognition whatsoever! This band sells out all of its tours everywhere they play and have a massive fan base.

no, all we get is crap like one disfunction, emlie ii am everywhere sandie, mumford we are public schoolboys and sons, and the insipid coldplay. Are the Brits afraid?

then you get a classic album like the war of the worlds being re done and they apart from ricky wilson and liam neeson peed over a classic, with people like maverick sabre, Gary I was no one 6 years ago Barlow! and Toss stone!!!

If you go on youtube and put in Bill hicks and music, that is how i feel about the current scene.
In the words of my generation... UP YOURS!

Just back from the Wilko Johnson gig at Koko in Camden. Surpassed expectations, and not at all a sad event. If you like proper rn'b get along to see him if you can.

I suppose this qualifies as music (of sorts) but have you seen Bonnie Tyler will be singing the UK entry in the Eurovision Song Contest?

'Im holding out for a zero......' :P

One of the things I love about music is the 'slap bass' technique, fascinating to watch & boy does it sound good :thumb: .
To slap is one thing, but to slap & sing at the same time is another.

I've seen Level 42 play live & they really take some beating as a live act!

Hi Steve

Yep I do think Foo Fighters would still be about, I don't think Nirvana were ever going to be a career band. Reading Kurt Cobain "suicide note" and his journals which were released I don't think he want to be a singer all his life, or that how I remember reading a few years ago now.

I really don't think his "suicide note" was intended to be that when he starting writing it, reads more like he was quitting music and was trying to inform his fans rather than what happened. Whether he changed his mind at the end or something else happened we will never know.
