France penalty

France 21-19 South Africa at halftime

South Africa number 4 in the bin for head on head that could easily be upgraded to a red; he ducked into the French loose head prop - must have been like running into a tree but a foul nonetheless

What a tremendous match

The Springboks v France match will go down as one of the best matches of the Rugby World Cup 2023 tournament!

Although the Boks won by just one point, the fast paced game, the commitment on both sides, an epic try by Bok No 4 (Etzebeth) after his return from the cooler ...

A brainy, innovative free thinking plan and play, by the Boks coach showed. :thumb:

The SA captain? Disappointing, left the field soon after half-time ...

SA vs France, and NZ vs Ireland, both great matches.

England are out next round if they keep playing how they've played so far.

The host nation France is out. England has done very well in reaching the semi-finals, the only northern hemisphere country still in the tournament - and well deserved! England beat Fiji convincingly, when many gave Fiji hopes of walking over England.

On a good day nothing can just walk over the auld country! :D

What has population got to do with it?

Certainly NOT a convincing win by any means. the match could easily have gone to Fiji.

As to the population size, the current number of rugby players in England is most likely greater than the Fijian male population between the ages of 18-35.

Mind you, I have little confidence in the England team selectors as they cannot combine members of the squad on form the best on the field 15.

As Eric famously said, "we have all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order".

Ireland and France can still make the final, they just have to buy tickets.
Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus.

The semi finals are nearly upon us

England play South Africa on Saturday

South Africa are not unbeatable - Ireland beat them and France should have won and in the year they have lost to England and France and New Zealand and even Australia if you go back 12 months

I think a lot depends on how much last weekend’s fast and bruising encounter has taken a physical toll on the South African team. Now how do I persuade Mrs P that we are watching the game and not Strictly?

If England play like they did against Samoa and Fiji, South Africa will destroy them
