Nor did local boy Antonelli.
Missed the first prang but from the replays it looks to me like the halo worked again today. If not saving his life, at least sparing him a headache!
Also, highlight has to be Doohan walking off through the paddock smirking after Colapinto binned it.

Goes to show that whatever you think of the Drivers, the car will never be good enough this season.
You could put Vettel in a Ferrari this season and it would still be a pig.
The Problem IS Ferrari, not necessarily the drivers!

Re: F1 2025
Having said the above, both Ferrari drivers worked their socks off to get a creditable result.
Uncle max did his usual 'dive bomb', tgat he keeps getting away with it.
And suspiciously, the clearing of the tow truck off the track took ages.

Fair play, they did well to get where they did although Charlie boy was a little upset with how things panned out.Nnthusiast wrote: ↑Sun May 18, 2025 7:39 pmHaving said the above, both Ferrari drivers worked their socks off to get a creditable result.
I thought it was an epic bit of driving tbh, and is what I love about watching Max.Nnthusiast wrote: ↑Sun May 18, 2025 7:39 pmUncle max did his usual 'dive bomb', tgat he keeps getting away with it.

I only get to see the highlights these days, so no idea how long it took, but what is 'suspicious'? Deliberately trying to benefit Ferrari?Nnthusiast wrote: ↑Sun May 18, 2025 7:39 pmAnd suspiciously, the clearing of the tow truck off the track took ages.

Re: F1 2025
I also only see recorded highlights these days
Some great racing from the young drivers , they are all brilliant. I am not a Lando fan but he did two great moves on Russell and Piastri. Max was as always very impressive, a born racer.
Mad Max has gone ( for the moment) it's now Mature Max!
Oh yes and Williams flying in 5th in the hands of a confident Albon

Re: F1 2025
I would like to see someone 'close the door' on Max, what he's doing now is what he has always done, lunch down in inside or outside, and intimidate the other drivers to move out of his way.
Dont get me wrong, a great driver, but it is possible to squeeze him if your ahead at the time, especially when going into bends.

Re: F1 2025
To quote Damon Hill on Schumacher: 'you had to hit it or force him of just once to show you meant business. He would be very angry but there wasn't any other way'
Re: F1 2025
IMPO Schumacher, Vettel and Verstappen are/were superb drivers who spoil themselves with outrageous tactics, such a pity, hard racing is one thing, dangerous driving is another, it doesn't help that the team 'boss' can see nothing wrong

If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!

Someone, can't remember who once said when Senna was behind you, you could either let him by or decide where to have an accident
The pass that Max made on Oscar was entirely within track limits so I can't see the problem

Re: F1 2025
It was a clean overtake, that’s that. Nothing else to it. Piastri fought hard at T1 but left space. I’m impressed he also managed his lunch round the outside too!Nnthusiast wrote: ↑Mon May 19, 2025 9:21 amI would like to see someone 'close the door' on Max, what he's doing now is what he has always done, lunch down in inside or outside, and intimidate the other drivers to move out of his way.

Re: F1 2025
Rightly or wrongly - Champions of Formula 1 have always been “brave/cocky/audacious/whichever word you choose” but that is what makes a champion. Hamilton had streaks of it, Rosberg, Vettel so on so forth.
Look at Piastri. He goes toe to toe with Verstappen. Knows how to race him. Norris isn’t as confident as Piastri hence more often than not loses out.
**There has been plenty of racing from Verstappen I’ve not liked (Mexico ‘24) but he’s also delivered some outstanding racing.

Re: F1 2025
I agree with Pune, particularly with regard to Schumacher. A flawed genius who was at times a blatant cheater. Those of us around at the time could can come up with a whole catalogue of unacceptable and downright dangerous moves!!. I would add Nico Rosberg to his list. The year he won his championship, he collided with his teammate 3 times, not always accidentally!!. Slogen 51.It was Martin Brundle who made the comment about Senna, when competing against him in their F.3 days.
Re: F1 2025
I'd agree with that for the most part, although Vettel was never great in traffic. When he had the best car he stuck it on pole and just drove away. If he was in traffic or a questionable car he struggled. Max is in a league of his own, his attitude is I'm passing/blocking or we are crashing. It wins him races and the other drivers need to be the same around him, Lewis was when he was competitive. Nothing wrong with his pass on Piastri at the weekend though.
