Leger Battlefield Tour

Anyone been on one of Ledger Battlefield tours? What's your opinion if you have

Hi Gary.

Met a few people on them while doing my own family tour of Flanders and the Somme pre-Covid.
Everyone aboard seemed to praise them highly, good knowledgeable guides etc.
None of the 'right that's so and so, back on the coach then we go to...' that some operators do.

Would recommend the Menin Gate ceremony in Ypres(every night at 2000L).
It's really moving, same as at Thiepval.

I've just looked on Leger's site, I never knew they did this many different tours though.

Hi Gary, me and Mrs Kipling have done a couple of good Battlefield tours with Leger. Both were guided by mutton-chops Gary, as it happened.The first might have been All Quiet on the Western Front, and we chose that because it went near a CWG cemetery that one of Mrs Kipling's relatives is interred in and where we wanted to lay a wreath.. We thought we might use some free time to taxi over to it, but Gary adjusted the routing and added it in to the itinerary and used it as a focus for another descripton of the fighting. The second was a WWI Beer and Battlefield one, but I don't remember as much about that one...
If you do choose to go, think carefully about your pick-up point as travelling from distance points via multiple transfers to Dover can be arduous. We drove to Stop24 and left the car there thus saving a few hours each way.

Thanks for the replies

I've done Yres Menin Gate etc during previous visits to Belgium. The one that's peaked my interest is the Air War Europe: Colditz, Dambusters & the Great Escape. Which just happens to visit Möhne Dam on the 83rd anniversary on the raid. Ie a year today

Gary, going west, the Normandy beaches are really accessible and don’t need an organised tour. Each beach has its own museum and each museum has a different focus.
We had a fascinating week out there in 2019; pm me if you ever want details.
