India and Pakistan

Post by slogen51 » Tue May 06, 2025 10:02 pm

BBC

'The Indian government says it has launched an attack on nine sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir'

The root of this particular event appears to be the Murder of 26 Hindu men in Kashmir

Very worrying situation. There seem to be lots of conflicts around the world that could easily become intertwined leading to a world war ?

Pakistan already claiming to have shot down 5 Indian jets. Photos online have already been debunked of the SU30 dowing with the photos coming from a 2024 crash

So far the claim is

3 x Rafale
1 x MIG-29
1 x Su-30 MKI.

With a gung ho US President and a cabinet of fools …

I seem to think we have been in a similar but subtly different scenario before.

Slightly less worrying than the threat of ‘one world government’ but nevertheless you are correct … a tipping point coukd easily be reached from here.

Tensions will be high in S/N Korea and PRC/ROC.

Could get nasty and affect many different countries as it may become another spiritual war.

Time will tell.

Have you read “Never” by Ken Follett; starts with a minor skirmish somewhere sandy and ends with the world incineration button being pressed. Scary.

They said - Russia and Ukraine was just a civil war - but many said a nuke war would happen with China over disputed islands.

Doesn't even need to be somewhere sandy

Brighter news US agree cease fire with Iran backed Houthis but I can't see Houthis agreeing to stop targeting Israel

UK agrees a tariff free trade agreement with India so we could all soon be driving around in Mahindra and Marhindra!

Much of the stress around the world seem to have their roots in British post war cock ups!

India and Pakistan have been taking pot shots at each other for decades! Whats the difference this time? so is it the truth or is it yet more propagander/scare mongering by the news media? Bear in mind one of the news outlets were repoting over the weekend 3 police officers murdered in Skegness by a couple of Americans that live in LA! Fake news, AI is everywhere, I think its getting to the point of only beliving what you see personally.

Hopefully things might be calming down between the two Common Wealth countries

Pakistan are saying they "have already retaliated" by shooting down 5 Indian jets , whether that is accurate or not is another matter, but it doesn't matter as it gives both nuclear capable countries away to step back.

Pakistan's Chinese SAM's getting some real action on European kit... a lot of nations will be taking note.

Interesting so many were shot down.... either a false sense of confidence in Indian battle posture, or Pakistan got some interesting training from the Chinese.

I'd be surprised they went into theatre without some sort of recon and ECM.

That's a Mirage fin in the above link. One of which has been speculated as a blue on blue yesterday.

Things are getting scary

An over reaction to the Kashmir massacre, a senseless act of terrorism? But was it state sponsored by Pakistan

From the Torygraph

'India has sent warships equipped with supersonic cruise missiles towards Pakistan after days of cross-border clashes between the two nuclear-armed states.'

Chinese Military hardware definitely delivers:-

'a US official told Reuters that there was “high confidence” a J-10C had shot down two Indian fighters, using air-to-air missiles. '

According to Defence analysts the air to air missile was the Chinese made PL-15 beyond visual range system. The wreckage of one Indian jet was found deep inside Indian territory

Just in case you cant read the above.

“In Kashmir, where two nuclear-armed statesare firing rockets at one another’s aircraft, there is a conspicuous absence of American interest. The US has no ambassador in India or Pakistan and no senior state department official appointed. The conflict is not making waves in US media, and Trump’s initial response was “it’s a shame” and that “if you think about it they have been fighting for many, many decades, and centuries, actually”.

In previous disputes between India and Pakistan it took a decisive US intervention to help calm both sides. In July 1999 in Washington, Bill Clinton personally browbeat Pakistan’s then leader, Nawaz Sharif, into retreat in what one official called the most important meeting with a foreign leader of Clinton’s presidency.

The former US secretary of state Mike Pompeo revealed in his memoir how close the two sides came in February 2019 to a nuclear conflagration, something he frantically helped stop from a secure hotel room on a visit to Hanoi. Unnervingly, India is no longer framing the issue as terrorism but as a state-on-state dispute by saying the underlying issue is Pakistan acting as a shield for terrorism.”
