Muggers paradise

Post by Condor68 » Sun Oct 27, 2024 10:46 pm

Just read a bit on line about why we dont need street lights .Apparently car lights are now so good .That being the case why do we have Thousands of of miles of Motorways and Dual Carriageway being lit up all night and still have accidents .Friday night drove home about 7 ish and just about got a jogger middle of road ,grey top black bottoms .I have good lights so missed her a bad chap could have easily mugged her and no one would have noticed .Problem was she was just heading out from the town limits where it got black. All the lights here have been converted from bright to not quite dangerous but close to it Apparently it is with this carbon /climate boll'x We will always get the effects of other nations blowing over us .ZERO IS NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN.At least until the big flash G .I.C.Which for my pointless followers means Grenade Incoming. .

Its about saving money. Local and county councils are rapidly running out of money with central governement support having been cut massively for years. LED streetlighting uses a lot less power and can be much brighter than the old sodium streetlamps we used to have.
In this world there's two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig.

Sounds to me like an accountants spin. "We can save £X by installing these lights over Y years" - but never take into account the actual costs of changing perfectly working equipment.

The local council replaced all our street lighting with the LED variety round here, and you’d get more lumens from a 20p candle :grr:

Our street lights go off at midnight, so a slow walk from the pub can be challenging.
They come on sometime in the early morning and times change with GMY/BST..
If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!
