Out of action again!

Post by slogen51 » Mon Oct 17, 2022 7:45 am

Not around for a few days as I am in the west Norfolk hospital waiting for a minor op hopefully to fix a partial blockage in my lower intestine.

Currently have a tube up my nose in to my stomach to drain it ( yuk) and nil by mouth

So this morning everyone on the ward was getting cups of tea and jugs of orange juice but yours truly is being fed intravenously - oh joy

( Now they are coming around taking breakfast orders! - torture as I haven't eaten for 24 hours I demand a refund)

I too have had the tube up the nose to drain my stomach & I can verify that it is a truly horrible experience.....even more so when it comes off the top of the collecting bottle it in the night & you dont realise until the nurses wake you in the morning...
Best of luck with the operation.

Cheers for the comments

Compared to some in here I am getting off fairly lightly.

The tube going in is fairly unpleasant but once in it is ok - I am feeling 200% better after two days of drainage plus I can now break wind again which apparently is a good sign - the female consultant was really impressed!! So I in may not need the op but still early days. Got the camera up the bum in the next couple of days when my intestine is completely clear. I won't be uploading on to Flickr or show us your worst!

I've got a spare EOS and 400mm lens, I'll recommend they use that for you mike !!

I wish you all the best and a speedy recovery mate. If I can do anything to help please let me know.
Dave.

If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!

Had the camera up the back end several times when recovering from the big C. Leave your dignity at the door!!. I always used to say, when I was turned on my side 'it's amazing what you have to do to get a cup of tea and a sandwich in this hospital!!]. Approach it with humour. It's the best way. Tea and sandwich AFTER the event!. :)
