Re: Top Gun Maverick
All three colours mean stop ... one of them allows you to go only if the way is clear !
The driving test unfortunately does not teach common sense (which appears to be a lot less common than the phrase suggests)

In fairness to youngsters though ... I've seen plenty of 'mature' drivers who also think roads are race circuits. Sadly there will be a solution to speeding .. driverless cars

Re: Top Gun Maverick
Saw this last night on a Sky VIP ticket.
Unfortunately me and the wife were last into the screen and had the front row neck aching seats.
But that was pure amazing. Possibly the best film I’ve seen since I first watched Top Gun. Strap in. Enjoy the ride.

Second that, absolutely brilliant film!!
Re: Top Gun Maverick
If you are located close to Arc Cinemas in the Nottingamshire area, XV490 will be making making appearances at showings of the film this coming weekend.
ARC Cinema - Hucknall - Friday 27 May. The cockpit will be present outside the cinema from 5pm until 8.30pm
ARC Cinema - Beeston - Saturday 28 May. The cockpit will be present outside the cinema from 5pm until 8.30pm
ARC Cinema - Daventry - Sunday 29 May. The cockpit will be present outside the cinema from 4pm until 8pm
So, if you're heading to either of the above venues then, in addition to the movie, you can get entry to the cockpit as a jet-fighter-taster before viewing the film. XV490’s owner Mike Davey will be there overseeing proceedings and keeping an eye on safety, so if you're visiting then pop over and say hello.
And what has a Phantom got to do with Top Gun? Well, remember when 'Viper' recounts flying with Maverick's old man back in 1965 when bogies were “…like fireflies, all over the sky”? Well, they were flying F-4's at the time. A tenuous link, we know, but a definite link, nonetheless…
Anyway, who needs an excuse to show off a Phantom - it is its own excuse!

If the film/cinema operators can get away with a Typhoon at the Premier in London, then a Phantom is a far better bet as a showpiece to have on site,BPAG wrote: ↑Fri May 27, 2022 6:21 amIf you are located close to Arc Cinemas in the Nottingamshire area, XV490 will be making making appearances at showings of the film this coming weekend.

Re: Top Gun Maverick
Just been to seen Top Gun and if anyone has not seen it I would definitely recommend it absolutely brilliant, Some of the camera shots are amazing.
Re: Top Gun Maverick
Saw it at the weekend on IMAX, absolutely stunning flying sequences and that alone is the reason it needs to be seen on the big screen. Yes it’s cheesy thats to be expected but I am sure it will as the original have hordes of young men and women walking through the recruitment doors to be the future Navy pilots.
I have never seen a movie twice at the cinema, this will be the first!

Re: Top Gun Maverick
Saw it this morning. Sorry. Didn't enjoy it. First film was better. This one owed too much to the original. Story line was the usual gung-ho over testosterone American tosh [to be expected], allowing a bunch of immature youngsters to fly the top missions. Had this been real, I suspect none of them would be allowed anywhere near an aircraft, let alone be the elite of the U.S. Navy. Flying sequences were undoubtedly well done, but each clip didn't last long enough to enjoy, before cutting away to yet another shot all the time!!. Story as predictable as night following day, and, to me, with a little experience of flying, it was a bit laughable, although I am well aware that it is aimed at the general public. I thought, as in the first film, that the background to the titles [the live Carrier deck] was the best part of the film. Sorry. Only my thoughts, which many, if not all will disagree with, but, hey......... there you go.

Without F-14s it can never match the first one.

Re: Top Gun Maverick
You can't beat the opening scene of TOP GUN ! Tomcats being ready launched on the carrier and Kenny Loggins singing danger zone . Fantastic. Haven't seen the sequel yet but everyone tells me its awesome but i guess a few of those people who saw it didn't even realise there was a different aircraft in this film

Re: Top Gun Maverick
Same could be said for the first film, no?? That's the point, after all, it's just a film

Re: Top Gun Maverick
Absolutely, James. Some people said it was fantastic, for myself, I prefer films that are rather more realistic.... just an opinion, that really doesn't matter. I just found the first film better.
