Interesting weekend coming up then, how are they going to enforce the grid penalty for Verstappen when he will now be starting from the back of the grid due to new engine? :S
If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!

I think the 3 place drop becomes null and void in this instance. I may be wrong, but I don't think it gets carried over.

In theory, he'll serve the 3 place penalty, then the engine penalty (I've not read whats been changed so not sure how many positions the second one is).

But yea, basically the penalty from Monza is voided. Surely something has got to be done about that..

Penalties for this, penalties for that... where is this going to end!!. Back in the day, if you hit someone, you took yourself out with damage or spins. Drivers are now hidebound by rules. Obviously SOME penalties are necessary, but lets have tracks that going off the circuit slows you down by having some grass verge or such like. Track limits need to be abolished, and replaced by the fact that you go wide loses time.

Indeed, 'you gained an advantage by going 20mm off the track at turn 4', then why aren't those 20mm part of the track??

The penalty debate could go on and on. All it does is reflect the world we live in really.
What the sport could really do with is an extra 6 cars, meaning back of the grid drives to the podium are actually an impressive feat, not the least expected. And a bigger deterrent for weekends like this one.

I notice Mercedes haven't contested red bulls decision, in public anyway. Whilst it wouldn't get anywhere, if the situation was reversed the tears from that garage would be rife. And you know our lord and saviour marko would be suggesting prison sentences or execution for Hamilton.

Perhaps it is time to move on from cars with drivers.
Waddington could be expanded to accommodate containers from which vehicles could be controlled remotely. Each track could then be modified to have corrugated edges that would damage any vehicle that went off.

Idle thoughts applied to an increasingly daft activity.

Surely a penalty is taken off of your qualifying position, and if you haven't qualified you can't serve the penalty...
And he even had the cheek to put out on social media that 'it wasn't worth the risk of going for it as we were starting at the back anyway'..

It was indeed a great race eventually, really feel for Lando, he went for it and it went t--s up, but at least he had a go and he drove a fabulous race, brilliant; Hamilton a 100 victories, can't argue with that, Verstappen didn't do too bad either, on to the next one.

Just watched the high lights

Really enjoyable race to watch. Everyone raced properly, F1 isn't meant to be dodgems and there are other types of contact motor support for that.

Hard lines for Lando but he did over rule a call to the pits when it started raining while he was leading. The team have more weather information than the driver.

Well done Lewis

I am not a big fan of Max and I know he has his knockers (but not in a good way like Dolly Parton) but he must surely be the king of overtaking. If Mercedes had not pitted Lewis when they did I think Mad Max might have won that last race?

Luck certainly did play a part. Looking at you crashtappen! But whilst Hamilton has had the best car, he certainly does not have it now.

Dwelling on ifs and buts can go anywhere. Had the grid been closer, and no one ahead pitted, Mazepin could have boxed for inters and won...
Might pinch mad max off of you there though
