Re: 3rd October
Ah found today's thread. Imo a single thread for movements would be better rather than having to find the new one each day, or have to start one.
But anyway :
ELVIS slipped to 4pm - 6pm. New addition: RCH303 37312 C130 in 5.20pm from St Johns. All for Wed 3 Oct.

Re: 3rd October
It means his arrival time at Prestwick is now between 4-6pm or 16.00-18.00.
Cheers.
Cheers.
Re: 3rd October
It was posted by rik as due last night, however it was put in the thread for Friday 28th Sept. ELVIS24 MC12S 11-00265
A good way forward would be to post any heads up in a new thread for the date in question to save confusion. When the day comes, any reported movements and updates on ETA's can also be added. All the heads up are appreciated, it just tidies it up a bit
Re: 3rd October
The crew have just arrived to the KC135 that came in last night
Re: 3rd October
I don't have the time nor inclination to be creating new threads for every heads up. I'm probably in the minority but personally I think having a new thread for every day of the week is retarded and probably loses contributions that would have been sent if there was just one thread. It's much easier to post in an existing thread because you can have it bookmarked, open and post within 30 seconds. If there isn't a thread then you first have to go to the sub-forum, then create a thread, type in a title and everything else and it's just too time-consuming just to posts a heads up, which is why I always just add to whatever appears to be the most recent one. I don't see why the airport specific forums can't have a monthly thread for September 2018 and all movements and heads ups can go in there. Much easier to bookmark and keep track of the activity if it's all in one place. Anyway that's my rant for the day.NGY1L wrote: ↑Wed Oct 03, 2018 9:46 amIt was posted by rik as due last night, however it was put in the thread for Friday 28th Sept. ELVIS24 MC12S 11-00265

Perhaps I'm in the minority but by your logic we would have one gigantic thread for Prestwick.
If I want to check to see if there is anything worth jumping on a ferry for a trip south, I would prefer to look at a thread marked for that day (or at least the day before to see if it nightstopped).
I wouldn't expect to look at a date several days or weeks in the past to see a current issue..or am I misunderstanding you ?
I really appreciate all of the heads up and movements posts as I am at least 2 hours away from Prestwick but I can't really see how your method can save more than a few seconds and surely if you have information which would be much appreciated by others, you wouldn't abandon because it took perhaps a minute instead of your stated 30 seconds?

Re: 3rd October
I think using the term "retarded" is a little much, especially when most other users on this forum seem to cope OK with daily logs (not only just on the Prestwick section) . Not everyone would think to look at a thread titled the 28th of September expecting to see a heads up for aircraft due on the 3rd of October. Having a daily log allows people to find information easily without having to scroll through a single thread with pages and pages of reports for the whole month.rik1301 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 03, 2018 10:37 amI don't have the time nor inclination to be creating new threads for every heads up. Anyway that Is just my opinion. I will go with what has worked previously until the majority choose otherwise. Another MC12S due, ELVIS28 00646. Similar times.
Re: 3rd October
You don't need to "scroll through pages and pages" - there is a button on all forum software called 'jump to most recent unread posts' and does just that. It works fine on every other forum, but for some reason here we are stuck in the 90s creating new topics every day of the week instead of using the forum software for how it was designed to function.
Re: 3rd October
I'm not quite sure why it's that much of an issue to have movements for a particular date in a thread titled with that same date. It's generally how people have filed such items for centuries.
Re: 3rd October
Because it's time-consuming when you're the one that's having to create all the new threads. Existing thread = less than 30 seconds to open, write and post. New thread = navigate to sub-forum, start new thread, enter title, type messag = several minutes messing around, when one thread entitled September 2018 movements would do a much simpler and quicker job.
Re: 3rd October
Gosh I only wanted to know what ELVIS was.....so anyway I prefer one thread per DAY not month
Re: 3rd October
mc12 just landed
Re: 3rd October
My tuppence worth is that I would rather have heads-ups posted under a different date from the current day than not at all, particularly for Prestwick. As you know, there is a column which contains the date of the last post under the heading, so if date for that last post is after the date in the heading, it might be an indication that the last post does not relate to the date in the heading. While I appreciate and understand the views of those who would prefer every posting to appear under the appropriate date heading, from one point of view, what you are asking is for someone to spend their time to save you time. From my limited scanning of other fora in FC, I note that rik posts on fora in FC other than the one relating to Prestwick, and if it saves rik time to add his posts on to a post ostensibly relating to a previous day, I can work round that, and am happy to do so rather than risk losing these posts altogether in the future. That last sentiment goes for all others who post in their preferred method.

Re: 3rd October
That doesn't make sense. 11-10265 perhaps? Based on the numbers for the other one. If it was 10265 then the other one should be 90646, unless it's not FY09! Are we sure it isn't 10-00646 which would make more sense? With me?
Re: 3rd October
Muscat90 has correctly reported the serials, rik.
Being US Army, they have the extra zeros in the 2nd bit of the serial to make them up to 5 digits. Unfortunately the US Army also tend to present the "tail number" on the aircraft how they wish - and do not necessarily abide by the normal convention.
09-00646 has only had its serial presented as "00646" since its transfer to the US Army and conversion to MC-12S-2. When it was an MC12W, it was presented as "090646" as was/is the custom with the USAF/ANG MC-12Ws.
