"All over Scotland"?

Not quite, Colin !

From the Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue Team's Facebook page via Scotavnet :-

"On Thursday, January 14, the Gannet team will get the chance to say goodbye when they fly past some of the areas that have seen the majority of their rescues. And the team are hoping that the public come out to wave them goodbye.

Weather permitting, Royal Navy Sea King helicopters from HMS Gannet will fly-over Prestwick at 10am, Glasgow at 10.30am, Garelochhead at 10.45am, Tyndrum / Crainlarich at 11am, Lochaber at 11.40am, Oban at 12.40pm, Inverlochlarig at 1.05pm, Stirling at 1.25pm, Edinburgh at 1.40pm, Ayr at 2.25pm, back to Prestwick at 2.27pm and finally, Troon at 2.30pm."

It should be 3 Sea Kings - the 2 rescue aircraft and a "junglie" green one.

So let me get this right the entire flight will be all over Scotland as I don`t see them going south of the border at any time on the flight route they are planning.
Whereas to fly over all of Scotland might take quite awhile :ninja:

Could someone inform me what their route over Edinburgh will be? Are they routing over the City Centre and The Castle at all? Just I'll be working in town and would love to have a chance to see them.

Top marks to the 'Senior Service' for celebrating the efforts of the people and the machines who have done such inspiring work over the years.........the light blue service in contrast........?
Don't get me wrong, I think the RAF people deserve the same recognition, just a pity the people at 'the top' couldn't find an equally fitting public tribute!

I know the 2 Rescue Sea Kings were from the 771 Sqdn H.M.S. Gannet S.A.R. Flight if correct but which Yeovilton Squadron was the Sea King HC.4 from. For some reason I thought the HC.4s had already retired......
