The above Nimrod MR2 is parked close to the Kinloss - Findhorn road just past the Station Commander's house. This was shot through the fence this afternoon :thumb:

I have happy memories of a 9-hour flight in this a/c, when it was with 206 Sqn, in June 1971 as an Air Cadet. With Sqn Ldr Curtis at the controls, we went on a sortie to find Soviet ships in the Iceland-Faroes Gap and find them we did - a Sverdlov-class cruiser and a Kanin-class destroyer. The a/c was depressurised and one of the windows opened for photography using a large hand-held camera. We were low enough to see gun crews running to man their AAA and the turrets started to turn and the guns to swivel! All part of the game, no doubt, but those three low passes were very exciting to a 15-year old! On the way back, we 'found' a Soviet submarine and, I have to admit, I was airsick (though maybe it was the lunchtime cod in parsley sauce?). The grand finale was a lengthy descent back to Kinloss with a practice emergency depressurisation - ouch!.
