The good old days?

Post by Unknown74 » Sat Feb 24, 2018 12:27 pm

Hi guys I have a question regarding RAF Kinloss during the good old days of the Nimrod, When you saw the Nimrods parked out on the various Flightlines either side of the Tower were they in the various Squadrons? Like were 120 on one flightline and 201 on another or were they all not in any order at all?

From at least the mid 80’s the Nimrods were all pooled together under the Kinloss Maritime Wing banner. Only the aircrew and some ops staff were Squadron assigned. When 42 Sqn relocated from St Mawgan it was based separately from the active 120,201 and 206 over on the North side of the airfield, although it’s a/c were probably rotated as well.
