No Nimrods should be scrapped it is a crime, they should all be in Museums!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well parts of them should be anyway! And that INCLUDES MRA.4s!

There are still 4 of them in the hangars on north side. I could be wrong but, 44 is still mainly intact. Only engines removed.

Just been and had a look XV241 is no more

That should just leave XV235 (due for Cosford) XV244 & XV252
And of course XV240 on display

Does Anyone know if they are intent on keeping XV240 as the gate guardian or will that end up as washing machines as well

Last I heard was the XV244 had already had its engines removed, no news on 52.

As for XV240, one assumes is relatively safe so will remain in its current place for the time being, I understand BAe & Rolls Royce funded its installation to some extent, and its not in the easiest of places to be extracted from (it took over a day to get it in) and would need additional funds to remove it which I doubt Kinloss or the (MoD) will provide.

Kinloss still has at least two years life in it yet dont forget

With regards to XV240 it should be kept as a reminder to the Kinloss community of what the base of RAF Kinloss was like. After all Elgin have a Buccaneer at one of their petrol stations. I'm still hoping I may get up and get a picture of XV240 some day so hopefully they should keep it, my camera let me down getting it last year :@ .
