Seen today at Kinloss although from a distance
1114L Climbing off RW 25 heading South- USN C9
1140L Sitting on VASS- VC10 ?? (A quick glimpse from the A96, so maybe not a VC 10)
An awful lot of US Navy a/c of late has there not?

Re: 9+10 = ?????
You did indeed see a VC10 parked at Kinloss as well as a C9

Re: 9+10 = ?????
I,ve also notice that a load of Convoys have been in of late, I suspect the reason is that Kinloss has now got a lake of Aviation fuel to dispose of due to the lack of Nimrods etc. hence we have had quite a few pit stops, I think we might get a few more.

I do what the voices in my head tell me to do!!!!

Is that why the VC-10 was in today, filling it's tanks ?Bluetail wrote:I,ve also notice that a load of Convoys have been in of late, I suspect the reason is that Kinloss has now got a lake of Aviation fuel to dispose of due to the lack of Nimrods etc. hence we have had quite a few pit stops, I think we might get a few more.
There must be a few gallons of fuel stored at Kinloss, thanks for that Bluetail, hadn't thought about the fuel surplus before !
Re: 9+10 = ?????
Would the Convoys not be picking up equipment maybe left behind by P3 crews? Ie sonar buoys, stuff like that? Just a thought with it looking like Kinloss is closing.

Their lead singer is a kid called Les Garcon, nice guy but stinks of garlic though !

Re: 9+10 = ?????
All the fuel at Kinloss could be pumped to Lossie via the pipeline that goes from Inverness-Kinloss-Lossie.
How many "CONVOY" flights have there been since the SDR was announced?

Are the flights pax or cargo, and I take it when you mean Italy and Spain, it's Sigonella(maybe Naples) and Rota ?
I've got my own theory behind the unusual amount of USN flights, but for the moment I'm going to keep it to myself.

Re: 9+10 = ?????
VC10 departed around 1445L today. XV107 (X) was the serial
