Adsb showing Chinook active this afternoon at Leuchars (+Herk ZH866) as ZH904, previously reported as being ZK560.

However there was an adsb trace for ZH904 in the SW / Somerset area on Thursday/Friday. Not sure if ZK560 went that far South and back North in that time or whether the real ZH904 is out of maintenance ?

Having saw this flying earlier today at around 1400L from St Andrew’s beach, it definitely didn’t have the extra large fuel tanks of the HC5 model which ZH904 is.
Still doesn’t clear up whether the frame is ZK560 however.

Hope this helps :thumb:

FR24 Showed it as 904 but I suppose they use much the same inputsI .I was amazed when I trotted sedately the 100yds to the beach using the binos I could see it over the Barry ranges just before 1700.If the "houses" across the road from us were removed I could see these things from the old porch.Any contacts????

Which of the LIFTER flights flew out of Leuchars just after midnight, flew over our flat at 20 minutes after midnight this morning. Sounded as though it was heading over the Pentland hills to dodge down the western corridor.
Warning; Military aviation is seriously addictive!

Any Apaches at Leuchars at the moment? Just seen the 2 Chinooks over Edinburgh a short time ago & it got me wondering about Apaches?

Anyone know when or if we will see parachute drops? Notam up from 10th to 17th for it but was curious on a more refined date.

There is a Notam up today (Times 1200 -1800 local ) for jumping @ Boarhills Deep Water Drop Zone, basically within 4 miles of St Andrews Bay.

I caught one of the Alberts dropping a RIB out the back from a low height late Sunday afternoon in the bay. Didn't see any other chutes though. Normally they follow shortly after a boat's been dropped.

There were no drops today as been over in St Andrew's towards boarhills and Kingsbarns all day, Only things I saw today were a couple of C-130s and a couple of Apaches, There were some other helicopters flying around but I dont think they were military.
There were some drops going on last week on Thursday as I saw them all dropping over the base from the C-130.

Just had a very low fly past from a jet over east end of Dundee anyone know who/what is was?

Three Apaches low over the Carse of Gowrie just now. I thought there was only two up for the exercise, but one passed, followed by another two. Fantastic sight.
