ZK556 & ZK560 are the pair of Chinooks at Leuchars (as confirmed by Chuck earlier in this thread - 3rd post on page 3), ZA705 transited back home at around FL70 from Lossiemouth earlier today and was then followed by ZA708 at low-level. Neither '705 or '708 visited Leuchars.

Can anyone confirm if the Chinook which arrived as "Vortex 504" on Tuesday evening is still present @ Leuchars?

This makes me think that ZH904 and ZK556 could have been the first pair to arrive (although I always take military helicopter serials with a large pinch of salt on tracking sites), and that ZK560 was Vortex 504 that arrived on Tuesday.
Have any of the Leuchars locals seen 3 Chinooks at the same time, and have any of you actually visually confirmed any of them?

Lifter1/2 were back and forward to Condor late Tuesday afternoon, confirmed visually as ZK556 and ZK560 by Chuck. Vortex 504 was a different Chinook that arrived from SW to refuel, then was directed to ASP 6 to park.(Wherever this other parking area is???), So definitely a 3rd late afternoon, that I know for sure.

The Leuchars Facebook Group may be able to help?

I've just used the Playback facility on ADS-B and ZK554 was showing as Vortex 504 heading NE near Loch Lomond at 16.41L.

Mmn, thanks for that, makes complete sense and ties in perfectly with the landing time of 17.17 local @ Leuchars!

Apparently it's ZK560 which is showing incorrectly as ZH904.

Thanks for the additional details. With ZH904 being a Mk.5 it should be more disinctive than the Mk.6''s ZK556 & ZK560
Are any photos available yet please ?
Thanks,
Paul

Yes, but 'ZK554' may also be showing incorrectly - it needs eyeballed as well.

On Wednesday evening, three Chinooks were present at Leuchars. ZK556 was flying around, two others parked up. The one that is showing on the tracking sites as ZH904 is really ZK560. A third Chinook arrived on Tuesday (as shown in posts above) and showed up as being ZK554. As far as I know, it has not been confirmed by eyeball Mk1.

I would just say thank you to the guys and girls I talked to on the mound (which overlooks the runway) for their considerate parking, no rubbish strewn around and for being open and friendly.

Such a pleasant change from so many other places.

P.

PS: especial to the two who also watched the stars for ages, thinking they were jumpers :-)

Yes. ZH904 is currently in Fleetlands.
