Exercise Chameleon

Post by JHolden92 » Tue Aug 03, 2021 3:01 pm

A three week Military exercise will take place in the Fife area from 29th Aug – 17th Sept. During this period there will be a substantial increase in low level and night time flying in the Fife area, particularly in the vicinity of Leuchars, from both fixed wing and rotary aircraft.

AIS info for SD Northern River shows it inbound for St Andrews Bay 29/08.
5x Fuel Trucks left RAF Lossie today seen in Elgin and posted to a GC, personnel spotted working on the pillow fuel tanks on the southside of the field, possibly related.

Two of the fast boats (ribs or solid jet boats) are arriving at Tayport Harbour today for exercise Chameleon. Just had notification of the crane being in and restricting cars. I would love a shot of one of those..... :P

Hopefully we get a decent amount of flying again.

Chris

Could I ask, are we likely to have any helicopters at Leuchars seeing as I got my hopes up since I one year saw 3 Apaches over Edinburgh and since then have watched for them in hope? Just to avoid any disappointment.

Leuchars is seemingly primary base for the ex so we should see some choppers. Although there will be night flying aswell as sorties down south over the 3 weeks

Definitely two Chinooks on ground but on South side of airfield.
