Don't know if you'll see them over your way Alan. Have you seen/expecting any other rotary participants over your way?

The 3 Apaches have just passed over Edinburgh a short time ago callsign VIPER heading your way! Any chance one of you guys at Leuchars could provide IDs for these guys please?

Hi Danny, 'fraid not. Maybe if there are Chinooks coming then they might come by this way. As ever conditions were perfect for a shot of them. At least I got out for some fresh air.

Chinook showing as ZK560 c/s LIFTER1 north passing Grantham .
Hercules c/s ZORRO was noted north near Skipton earlier and possibly Leuchars bound too ?

Hope the Chinook follows the same route as the Apaches might see it.

Their vessel the SD Victoria (special forces use this ship) is now showing off the mouth of the River Tay between St Andrews Bay and Barry Buddon ranges. Previous years have seen activity with this vessel. Also fast ribs and another two high speed craft usually work from Tayport Harbour in support. We have been notified by Harbour board they are to be here from 1st to 19th September.

Agree about security around Leuchars. I was stopped and asked exactly what I was doing last year one late evening. Polite enough but certainly on their guard.

Good to see some flying again though.

I had 2 Chinooks over the house at around 5.30 PM, on much the same route as the earlier Apaches, but a bit higher. At the time I saw the 3 Apaches, my sister said she saw 5 helicopters, with a lot of turning and weaving going on. Does anyone know if there was anything else going North at the same time as the 3 Apaches?

I'm never going to ID my Apache pics taken from my house, but the two Chinooks I may be able to. If anyone was at Leuchars for their arrival and got them, one of them had a mini gun sticking out the port, (left) window behind the cockpit, the other had the bubble window. Any Id for which is which?
