Lossiemouth 2021 Visitor Statistics
Posted: Fri Dec 31, 2021 4:15 pm
Have produced a record hopefully fairly accurate for Lossie visitors for 2021, with 2020 largely being limited in movements due to ongoing runway work that year has not been used for comparison.By October 2020 most work was finished with the return from Kinloss of the P-8s and Typhoons as well coming back from Leuchars.
2021 has of course with Covid meant restrictions for some of us viewing but this did not stop some people travelling some considerable distances flouting lockdown rules.
Comparing 2021 to 2019 as follows
Military visitors 249 (2021) 194 (2019)
Civil visitors 35 (2021) 67 (2019)
Top visiting a/c types 1) Typhoon with joint second Hawks and Voyagers. Significant change for Voyagers now a regular visitor unlike in the past. Now accounting for 10% of all visitors.
Highlights during the year perhaps the following
April WA638 Meteor T7/MOD
" ZZ191 Hunter F58
July 5119 C-130H French AF
Aug 2 x Mirage 2000D
Sep N190TC Sky Guardian
Oct 4576 P-3N RNor AF
Nov/Dec Swiss FA-18s and 6 x CF-18s RCAF
CXX Squadron at Lossie received their new Standard ,this year a further four P-8s arrived with only ZP809 to follow, probably next month. 10 US Navy P-8s visited with welcome return of P-3s and one ATL2.
Finally special thanks to Bluetail (Jim) and np1991 (Niall) for posting logs and supplying local information during the year.
Just remains to wish you all a Happy New Year.
