Kukri Flt Pumas

Post by Bluetail » Tue Aug 24, 2021 4:42 pm

Three Puma HC.2s arrived last Friday (20th) and have been operating both yesterday and today often just going over to Kinloss, although they have been a bit further afield.
The serials are not easy to make out but the codes are easier, they are as follows.

XW204-B
XW213-E
ZJ957-Z (previously ex SAAF 169)
I do what the voices in my head tell me to do!!!!

A Kukri is a Nepalese curved knife used by the Gurkhas.

The Gurkhas had/have a strong affiliation with the RAF’s 28 Sqn, hence why the badge of the Brigade of Gurkha’s(two crossed Kukri’s on a Red background), is worn on their aircraft.
