6th P-8 delivery imminent
6th P-8 delivery imminent
I was reading on the web that delivery of the 6th P-8 is happening this weekend/early next week.
Re: 6th P-8 delivery imminent
Delivery from Renton to Boeing Field perhaps because it hasn't even flown yet. It needs to go to Boeing Field to have it's internal kit fitted first too. Another few months before it graces our shores.

Don’t be too sure of that! Boeing have tweeted a pic of 806 with the caption of ‘keep an eye on RAF Lossiemouth this weekend’

It will just be the its name that's to be announced nothing more, it still hasn't flown yet and will still require its mission equipment installed which is done elsewhere and usually takes a couple of months to do.

Re: 6th P-8 delivery imminent
As expected the name of ZP806 has been revealed today as "Guernsey's Reply"
From the RAF Website
To mark the Bailiwick of Guernsey’s 76th ‘Liberation Day’ on 9 May, the Royal Air Force is honoured to announce that the UK’s sixth Poseidon MRA Mk1 Maritime Patrol Aircraft, ZP 806, will be known as ‘Guernsey’s Reply’ to honour the close bond between 201 Squadron, the island of Guernsey and Flight Lieutenant Herbert Machon OBE.
‘Herbie’ Machon left his home in Guernsey shortly before the German occupation during WWII and joined the British Military. He was destined to fly Spitfires in the RAF and, in honour and memory of his countrymen living under occupation, he named his Mk XVI Spitfire “Guernsey’s Reply”.
When 201 Squadron was disbanded in 2011, it was the last maritime squadron to retain a local affiliation and carried the moniker 'Guernsey's Own' commemorating a link forged in the challenging days just before the Second World War.
After a 10-year hiatus, 201 Squadron will return at RAF Lossiemouth later in the year and will be the second squadron operating the Poseidon Maritime Patrol Aircraft. The new commanding officer of 201 Squadron, Wing Commander Adam Smolak, said: "It is befitting of this long and proud association that one of the UK’s new Poseidon aircraft bears the name ‘Guernsey’s Reply’. No 201 Squadron will stand up this summer and I am looking forward to retrieving the Standard from Guernsey where it was held for safe keeping in the hope that the Squadron would return, and the affiliation could continue. It is an honour to bring the Squadron back to maritime operations; the coming years will be challenging and exciting in equal measure and it is vital that as we move forward, we retain this historic link."

September! So a long way off from delivery. When is the last one expected to be handed over?

Re: 6th P-8 delivery imminent
Based on previous schedules, it is taking Boeing about 3 months to install and test the mission equipment. As you say quite a while yet for it to arrive at Lossiemouth.

The photos showing the name on the side of 806 are taken inside the paint hangar at Renton. It has yet to make its first flight which will consist of a test flight and landing at Boeing Field for equipment installation.
